Hey all

This is my first posting on DGCR...So here we go. For those of you that play the Lake course in Lewisville Texas, yall know us as Scott and his boys (Levi-15 and Kaleb-12) and to everybody else HEY. We are planning a summertime road trip to the KC Worlds Open (July 27 - Aug 1). Our plan is to leave Dallas on the 23th, spend the next 4 days making our way up to KC, throwing a couple round each day and finding a camp grounds site to pop-up a tent and rest/eat/have a camp fire/shower ect ect ect.

Here is my question. Between Dallas and KC, what are the must throw courses? I"ll take any and all ideas, tips, hints what ever. Give me your thoughts. As the date comes closer, I'll post our roadtrip plans so if anybody would like to be a part of our 09 KC roadtrip...bring it. If you are a local and want to join us for a round or two...bring it. Know of a great hole-in-the-wall place to eat...bring it.

Thanks
Scott and the boys

This is what I do for road trip planning.

Go to the map browser and set it to 50 miles. Now put in your zip as your starting point.

Follow the interstate you are taking and click on it every 50 miles or so and it will reset your search...you can then look at all the courses that are along your journey, narrow it down to about 10-20 of the 3.5-5 star ones and then come back with specifics to figure out the 6-8 or so that you MUST play.

Hope that helps and welcome!!

The Lodge in Pawhuska Oklahoma is about half-way between Dallas and KC. It is nowhere near an intersatate though: http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=2489

The Lodge just hosted an NT event about 6-weeks back. They have camping, lodging, food, showers, and 36-holes of super challenging disc golf. It is a private course and I'm unsure what the rates are for playing/camping/etc...

Their website is: http://thelodgeattaylorranch.com/

I-35 is one of the best DG routes in the country, although a lot of the must play courses are north of KC.

That being said, if you're going to take four days to get there, you may want to take a road less traveled. Griffin Park in Norman, OK is very challenging. Dolese Park in OKC is okay too. After you get to OKC, you may want to head up I-44 to Tulsa. Several courses in town with Blackhawk being the premier course. From there you can head northwest, (hitting the Pawhuska site SFS recommended on the way), and play the two courses in Wichita, KS at Herman Hill and Oak Parks. After that head up to Emporia, KS. Small town with four courses, three of them very good. Two very challenging courses at Jones Park (West and East), and one at Peter Pan Park. From there, you're only 90 minutes from metro KC.

I'm not well versed on where the good camping sites are near these areas, so you'll have to ask someone more in the know. There are a number of Army Corps of Engineers lakes here in Kansas that have Corps managed campground areas which are relatively cheap for primitive sites. One at Pomona Lake has its own 18 hole course. I believe Oklahoma has similar accomidations. Note, most Corps lakes in both states are to the east of I-35.
