I looked at all the 2021 A-Tier and above round ratings compared to player ratings.

For MPO&FPO combined, the round rating was an average of 4.5 points higher than the player rating. For MPO it was 4.3, for FPO it was 5.5 points higher.

When MPO players did not share a layout with FPO, the MPO round rating was an average of 2.4 points higher. But, when MPO shared a layout with FPO, the MPO round ratings were an average of 6.6 points higher than the player ratings.

When FPO players did not share a layout with MPO, the FPO round rating was an average of 4.8 points higher. But, when FPO shared a layout with MPO, the FPO round ratings were an average of 6.7 points higher than the player ratings.

Note these are all less than a one-throw difference.

So you averaged the player ratings for each event versus the round ratings?

What about dropping the bottom half of ratings? I say this because a player rated 1000 or lower has a lot more opportunity to play above the rating.

Generically seems lots of opportunity to play with the data and see what comes from it.

So how do you stop top tier rating inflation?
