Trying to increase distance

Flat footed during the run up. There are hardly any athletic positions where you weight is distributed on your feel. You are also rotating your hip before landing on your plant foot. This robs you of a lot of power.
 
You are trying to shift your weight from in front of you and end up not bracing/over rotating. Your arm lags too far behind the shoulders/rotating the shoulders early/too open for releasing the arm forward. Need to transfer/brace your weight first, then swing from a close shoulder and get the elbow forward. Your hit point should like a foot closer to the target.
