VIRGINIA is for LOVERS'

Hello DGCR dwellers - I have created this thread in hopes that it will attract, contain and be "The Spot" for the majority, if not all, of the Virginia Disc Golf Events from now until eternity.

Thread purpose and duties as assigned by US, the people of Virginia = posting, inquiring and discussing the details of any Virginia Disc Golf Event.

I hope that I have not created a similar thread in the past :\ --- I am a bit older now...so, if I have, cut an old man a break.

Peace - Brandon Bailey

Timber Ridge Open on Nov. 3rd and the BRAWL should be starting up soon as well. Go here for info on both events http://farmdiscgolf.net/index.htm
the Brawl is always alot of fun playing several different courses thru Central and SW Va. over the winter months.

Hey guys, tell me more about BRAWL. I looked on the website but all I found were details of past winners/scores etc... What kind of schedule is played, what dates/months? It's a bit of a drive for me but I would love to play................jerry

So Im in northern VA, anything going on anywhere near me? Or is it all for kinda mid to southern VA?

Winchester is suddenly not in northern Virginia?

(Read: see the post above about the Winchester IFO)

Seriously though, on PDGA.com, I have seen many tourneys out there near where 66 and 81 connect. Shouldn't be all that far from you, no matter where in NOVA you are. I'm in SOVA, so my closest tourneys are in NC most times. I know nothing about the league scene up there, though. I hope you find some good events. I know there was an Ace Race in Arlington or Alexandria or something recently.

On the SOVA/Piedmont front, I know that the new upgrades to Edmunds Park DGC in South Boston, VA should make for some tourneys in the near future. Same with additional tourneys or a league in Danville.

Any info from any Richmond people? Outside of the Tour de Richmond, it would be nice to know more about what's going on up there.

And I am definitely looking forward to the BRAWL. Been wanting to play that series for a couple of years now...

 Hope to see you there, Jerry! We need to hit up Elk Creek again sometime.

Brawl usually starts in December. Points accumulate while playing several courses thru march. 1pt for showing up and a pt for everyone you beat for that day. In the past it has visited Randolph Park, Elk Creek, Sontag, Falling Creek, Walnut Creek, Golden Hills. Big Branch and Timber Ridge are private courses that are thrown in the mix as well. Lots of fun and good company. Check back to the website for this years details to be posted soon.

I've been corrected that Fredericksburg is not in Northern Virginia. Even though I live about 48 miles from the northern border of Virginia.

It'a a form of NOVA snobbery.....

NOVA is considered 47 miles from the border. That or its a county thing....

Is it a league with dues? Or is it a separate tournament each time.

Yes Sir Ken, we need to hit up Elk Creek again. Talk at you soon......jb

It's a separate Tourney each time. And I forgot to mention that there have been 8 events in the past and you only need 6 to count toward overall standings. So if you play all 8, you get to drop the 2 worst. I don't have anything to do with running these events, just a fan of them. I've only played the ones closest to my area and never attempted all in one season. I've played in cold rain, 4 inches of snow with ice on top, 30 mph winds and 70 degree weather. You get a little bit of everything from Dec. to March.

I tried to edit my first post to include the following information, but it seems there is a 15 minute deadline.

This thread is a continuation of the Original' on the PDGA site, which has become a void --- The God-Father' of Virginia disc golf Biscoe created the first one. Since I am committing copyright infringement, I will have to pay Biscoe like $1.28 per post here, so people - make them worth it!

Here are a few of the many VIRGINIA sites for tournament information:

Thanks Brandon. Looking forward to seeing the schedule for the BRAWL.
