Pros:
New tee pads
good signage
kiosk with map
Plenty of parking
Good course flow
Cons:
Lots of short holes
Several with right angle fairways
$10 Parking fee for Oklahoma state park. (still cheaper than Nebraska's out of state entrance fee)
Other Thoughts:
Ok, first off, it was slightly raining as I played the course. Wet wet wet and I got kind of soaked.
However, I still enjoyed my round. The course starts out with a few mostly open holes to warm up, then you have most of the course in a heavy wooded area with shaped fairways. Several of these went hard right or hard left where a skip shot was needed for a chance at a birdie.
Hole 9 or hole 18 could be the signature holes.
hole 9 is 358 foot straight down a narrow fairway. If you don't keep it on the fairway, you have thick woods on both sides. This hole is also slightly downhill. I was more than happy to walk away with a 4.
Hole 18 is only 284 foot, but plays a little longer with the tight fairway though the trees. The rough is wide, but there are plenty of trees to hit. I was happy to walk away with a 3 on this one.
So other than several really short holes, I really enjoyed this course. I threw multiple shots at a couple of the short aceable holes to no avail.
Would I play here again? yes I would. In fact I may play it again if I get a chance to see how it plays in better weather.
