Pros:
- Beautifully laid out, challenging course. More difficult than the West course. More challenging than Lloyd park from what I remember of playing Lloyd park last year. If you normally shoot anywhere between scratch to -5 on Alberta's other courses like Baker, Forest Lawn, Olds, Victoria Park, Three Sisters - well you're going to be in for a shock here. Get ready to curse your inability to throw 300 foot lazer beams.
- Tons of natural obstacles, really forces you to pull all of the shots out of your bag. Punishing, narrow corridors on some holes offer a real challenge.
- Signage is well done though a couple were down.
-The owner keeps the course very well maintained.
- Baskets in great shape.
- Tee pads well demarcated (though dirt)
Cons:
- Easy to lose discs. Some hazards are hard to know they're there until you throw up to them. It's a natural area with a bunch of saw work done so watch your footing.
- Knowing the area I would assume wildlife such as cougars/bears/moose could potentially be a concern, and there is limited/spotty cell coverage.
- It's a very natural, wooded course. I personally love this about the course but some people prefer more landscaped, urban style courses, go figure. Get your bug spray on in bug season I would imagine.
Other Thoughts:
- Having a spotter definitely helps. It's worth walking most of the holes on the first go around to get a feel for the turns/distance.
- Although the signs are nice and Rudy has done a good job laying trails out between holes it really helps to have a good overhead course map.
- This is a private course so go through one of the Facebook pages to ask permission to play or sign up for the annual tournament that is held here.
