Pros:
Barnum High School DGC is a nine hole deal that wraps around the north and west side of the school. The first three holes play over by the two baseball fields. The next five play just south of the football field on the west side before finishing with hole nine which plays back toward the parking lot next to the water tower.
Homemade baskets on each hole. These have number plates on the top which helps you figure out what hole they're intended for. One basket and placement per hole.
The grounds were clean, mowed and looked to be well tended to. Free to play and permanent. It's also just a minute off of the expressway if you're passing by.
Cons:
Number one con here is the layout. Without a map this thing would be impossible to figure out. The Udisc map is accurate. It's one of the goofiest designs I've seen in quite awhile. Pretty awful actually. The first three play over the baseball fields. Not next to, over. Holes 5-8 criss cross back and forth for no apparent reason. Terrible way to lay this course out.
No signage, which only makes wayfinding that much more difficult. There's also no tee pads either. The only amenities out here are the baskets.
Oh, and about those baskets. These things are janky. Homemade baskets that are all rusty with different types of chains on different baskets, some of which are no longer attached at the bottom. Regardless of the type of chain these things don't catch worth a damn. So the one actual disc golf amenity out here is about as low of quality as possible. Yay.
Not playable when school is in session or there's any baseball games or practice going on. Or the first three holes at least.
Other Thoughts:
This course is pretty terrible. I enjoy a trainwreck of a course from time to time, but this one was so bad that it was hard to enjoy much of anything here. I'd avoid this one at all costs unless you need to play them all. Pretty awful course. Play at your own risk.
