Potential for a nice 9!

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 31, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

Cadillac Christian Reformed Church is just off of US-131 on the east side of town. There are 9 holes of disc golf playing around the side and back of the church property.

There are honestly a decent mix of holes here. I recall one sharp left turning and one sharp right turning fairway in the woods, and some straighter wooded holes, and a couple of more open holes. The distances are nice for a pleasant rec-level round, ranging from 180' up to 350'. Moderate rolling elevation changes make a few holes more interesting.

The baskets are numbered DGAs.

There is a kiosk with a course map at the parking lot closest to the first tee. The map isn't great for disc golf because it only artistically shows tee and basket locations relative to walking paths and other reference points on the church grounds - no idea of where the actual fairways are in between. But it is nice aesthetically, and better than nothing informationally.

Cons:

The tee areas are not good. The "pads" are pieces of carpet that are basically just slapped on the ground - not secured in any way. Next to each of these is a wood post that looks like it will eventually, or once did, have a tee sign mounted on top - but currently has no info at all.

There is no navigational signage either so you'll need the weird course map on the kiosk, or UDisc for navigation. That said, UDisc currently has the holes numbered wrong. The first hole is the one labeled as #3 on UDisc.

The distances are not enough to challenge better players, and there is nothing particularly memorable.

No trash cans/benches/practice basket/etc.

There is a maintenance shed in play off the tee on the finishing hole.

The course was a bit overgrown when I visited. It was still very playable, but definitely needed a mow.

Other Thoughts:

This one could be a pretty solid 9er, but it needs more maintenance and better tees/signage to get there. I can only really recommend it to course baggers in its current state.
