Pros:

Cameron High School DGC is currently a 15 hole course. I talked to a couple guys who were out there today who were actually installing a new tee pad for what will be the new hole 10. Apparently a full 18 hole course is in the works. This is a review of the current layout though.

The baskets are nice. They're a mix of Mach III's and Mach V's. The majority of them were the Mach V's. These were all brand new and caught great. The III's were nice too, just not as nice as the Mach V's obviously. One basket and pin position per hole.

The tee pads are a mixed bag. There's some nicely done concrete ones on the first two holes and then the last two. All the ones from hole 6 through 11 were nice brick pad. These were smaller but much better than a natural surface since these were all the wooded holes. Holes 3,4 and 13 use the sidewalk/walking trail and the other two are just grass. So it's a mixed bag but all were effective. One tee pad per hole.

Great design out here. Nice mix of open and wooded. I wasn't expecting so many fun wooded holes. I was more expecting the usual WI school course setup. There's a little bit of elevation that's used pretty well.

The course has a good mix of different shapes off the tee. Most of the holes are basically straight but there's a few left and right bending shapes mixed in. The woods holes have some tight but fair lines.

The navigation is pretty straightforward for the most part. The only long walk is from hole 14 to 15. You see the basket for 15 when teeing off on hole 1 so you at least know where the course ends at from the start.

Cons:

Hole 6 is kind of a goofy hole. Very short and downhill a bit but it's only listed at 99 feet. It's barely half of that. Just a strange shot shape for that one. Feels a little like a filler hole.

The tee signs are missing on a couple holes. The ones that are there currently aren't all that useful either. Hole number and distance only. Understandable if the plan is to expand it 18 though so I won't knock it for these.

There's a pond behind the pin on hole 5. This one's a blind dogleg right too. With no map on the signs this one could be a major surprise if you throw without scouting the hole first. There's also tons of goose poop on this hole since the pond is right there.

There are a couple spots where you backtrack to get to the next hole. These were all marked pretty well but if those signs disappear it could be much more confusing. It's fine at the moment though.

Other Thoughts:

This was a fun little course. I was pleasantly surprised actually. Worth a visit if you're passing through the area. There's not a ton of options in this area right off of 53. I'd play this one over the others personally. Good to see that they're going to expand it to 18. There's still some space in the wooded section to get a few more holes in. Great start as is though. Fun course.
