Pros:
When you enter the park at the 18 hole Central Park , you immediately see tee boxes and baskets to your right . These are your finishing holes 16 , 17 and 18 . The first parking lot on your left has 2 Port O Lets and plenty of shade to park your car under . The tees are cement and are a little short but hold well . The baskets are Chainstars and catch well . There are what looks like 2 pins on every hole , . I don't know how long they rotate it , but it adds a lot to a course .Print a map or you will possibly have to backtrack a couple of times . The signs are good and informative with flight path , Hole # and distance . The course was mowed and the bridges were in great shape . This course plays flat , but there are a few large hills leading up toward the beginning of the course on holes #2 Uphill ) #3 downhill and 5? , a short over the top blind basket hole . Be careful not to miss this hole , because the course flow goes one way and this hole goes the other . You will cross a nice bridge and walk up the hill for the finish of #5 , the walk back down to where you threw from and resume to your left . THis course utilizes a trench unlike any course that I have ever seen. Since it wasn't immediately prior to a rain , there was little water in it . The sides are pretty steep , so take that into account when playing . The first hole is a good 300' + warmup hole with some trees flanking the baskets and low canopies . Of course the ditch is close by ,so measure your drives . #3 is a long downhill 513' drive with a rock filled gutter to your left and the bridge and ravine in front of you . Play this hole a little to the right so you have an angle to the hole on your approach . The holes start to play flat or barely rolling in spots . Hole lengths vary on 6-15 from 208' ( #14 with mando ) to a long of 692' ( #8 ) . The ravine adds to the suspense of some of your drives , and basket placement can come very close to the edge of it . #16 forces you you to come back over to the other side of this long ditch to finish your round . I liked the basket placement because it is 385' ( seemed shorter ) to the basket , which sits directly behind some 5' tall plants . #17 is 341' and the basket sits across from the trench . #18 is longer than the 220' it claims , but the basket sits at the edge of this trench where the basket is situated in a corner of the trench that drops off if you overshoot it just a little to the right , left or behind . Lots of tree canopies work against you here . You can score okay on this course , but some spots , like the 692' monster tucked under the trees #8 ) , will punish your approach and knock it down short . Some will say that this course is not creative enough , but I think the course designer did a great job . Signature hole : #3 for sure . The long downhill bomb that levels off to the green right over a bridge .
Cons:
#1 Navigation . No map means some confusion . #2 If you don't like climbing down in the ditch to retrieve a drive or a long putt , Then this isn't the course for you . #3 bring bug spray in the summer months or face being eaten . I think the ravine attracts many of them . #4 do NOT play this after a hard rain . You are asking for wet shoes and slipping into the ditch . #5 not sure of the accuracy of the hole lengths . They seem different than the signs and scorecard . #6 amenity free . Carry out what you carry in .
Other Thoughts:
I only listed all of these cons so I can see improvement if I come here again . Just some constructive criticism . I came over here from Latimore and really enjoyed my round . This is a course that can entertain newbies to good ams . The course only confuses you a couple of times if you printed off your map . MY RECOMMENDATION : Couple this with Latimore or MAM Army Depot and make a long morning of it if you are near the Memphis area .It is a short drive from I-55 at the very northeast top of Mississippi . If you are local , then why weren't you you out on the course when I was ?
