Pros:
Copperhead Park is a nice open park with some pic nic areas, a baseball field, some parks, and hiking trails. there's a nice lake, but you only get to see it for a little bit.
If you just look around at those things, you'll have a great time.
The holes are all pretty reachable. You can see the hole distances on the info tab. They're pretty short.
The hole designs are a mix of fairly open to tight and twisty. Some hole layouts seem pretty good, but they're really just average holes on a course with a lot of below average holes.
Cons:
Even with a rating just under 3.0, this course still didn't live up to expectations. Navigation is a nightmare, especially in the middle of the course. The map helps some.
The tee pads were dirt/mud/puddles, and the tee signs are just yellow posts. The baskets are super rusty discatchers. All of this combined makes it look like park staff forgot this course 10 years ago.
Some of the holes play close to the playground, or other holes, or a neighborhood backyard, or the road,
I have officially decided that my biggest pet peeve in life is a disc golf hole that makes you throw toward water with no warning that there's a water hazard there. Hole 11 did this too me. I thought I parked my favorite midrange, only to walk up and see the basket is surrounded by water on three sides. And none of the sides are the direction of the tee pads.
Other Thoughts:
There's really nothing here to attract you to this course, or give you a reason to play it twice. Even the park seems a little anti-visitor with about 100 "don't do this" signs.
There was plenty of space to make the holes better, less crowded, to use the lake more, and this course really drops the ball on design. The opportunity is there, it just wasn't taken. I would love to see what this place could be with a redesign, tee pads, good signage.
The park is right off i-10, so it's not out of the way. It's a quick course given the length, so go if you want. But I'm not going to push you that hard
