Pros:
Cyprus Church sits high on a big hill with awesome views of the surroundings. The course was designed by a Boy Scout, possibly for an Eagle Scout project. I wish the designer had gotten some input from someone in the disc golf community. My question here with this course and its design is? Who did you design this course for? For church members? For the church's youth groups? For the local disc golfers? For touring pro disc golfers?
The design is just not good. It features some silly holes that no-one would ever return to play. Starting with # 1. I never really determine where the tee pad is but the basket is set on the side of this ultra-steep hillside. Anyone who's throw fades right is going to have a strenuous hike down and up this hill. That's probably enough to discourage most youth group type players. # 2. I never found any tee so I just aimed all the way down there where I spotted a basket. This is actually an epic downhill fir experienced players. However, I lost my favorite driver teeing off from the highest point although I was throwing to the wrong basket.
From here things went from bad to worst. I couldn't find the tees. I never found the # 5 basket. Then the last two holes play way up this giant hill. You have 250' holes that play like they're 400' or more. Not a fun round!
Cons:
Course is so rugged that it wouldn't be fun for anyone.
Playing back up the hill at the end of your round is tiresome and boring.
Two baskets are trashed.
No tee pads.
Terrible design, especially with holes 1-8-9.
Other Thoughts:
This just isn't a fun round for anyone. Between the trek up the hill and the possibility of throwing amiss on # 1 and having to chase your disc down this steep hillside and the arduous climb back up on 8 & 9, it's just not enjoyable.
# 2 is a cool interesting downhill throw even though you're throwing at the basket down to the left and not the basket by the two huge trees. Especially for an experienced player, this basket down near the trees would make for a more epic hole.
For one disc wonders from the church, this epic opportunity would be wasted upon them.
I love to see disc golf courses installed at churches but the designer needs to know the people who'll be playing the course and their throwing capabilities. This course missed the church folks that could have been enjoying this course the most.
