Pros:
+ The 9 includes a handful of very nice holes, combining open and wooded areas in the park
+ Short and a very good course for beginners, although they might be very frustrated by tight lanes through a thick grove of mature trees on the middle holes (at least they'll learn the importance of throwing straight!)
+ WIth the glaring exception of Hole #2 (see Cons), the course doesn't interfere with other park activities
+ As is the case with many short park layouts, mostly straight holes. But #2 is a dogleg left (over the pavilion), a few have slight turns, and #8 requires a RHFH or turnover to score
Cons:
- Hole #2 requires a throw up and over a picnic pavilion that's directly in front of the tee
- The course appears to hold water (the first tee was underwater after a rain)
Other Thoughts:
~ Small concrete tees, rusting DisCatcher baskets, posts at each tee with simple signage indicating length
~ Mapped on uDisc, but with the tee posts visible from baskets, it's pretty intuitive to navigate. The one possible confusing spot is that you have to backtrack over 2 to get the the third tee
~ There's an 18 hole "safari" layout mapped on uDisc. This course is good for practice, for a quick round, for working on putters and upshots. For me, it was just a bagging stop, and it wasn't worth the effort to find alternate tees to play 18
RECOMMENDED COMBINATIONS:
Easy to combine with MayDel (another park 9), Killens Pond State Park and/or Tuckahoe State Park for a multistate day of disc golf
