Nothing to see here

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 5, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

There are tee markers and the baskets are straight. Baskets are numbered.

This is a very quick play and parking is plentiful.

Could be good for field work/practicing. Very wide open field that is big enough to contain most people's drives.

Grass is mowed nice and short

Cons:

One of the most boring courses I have played. 9(8) baskets sprinkled in an open space in front of a church. While there are signs, they don't indicate which basket is the proper target or distance and on some holes there are several baskets that could work.

The space itself is flat and blank with absolutely nothing going for it.

The baskets are the temporary ones that can be moved, not the highest quality but they caught fine.

I didn't think hole 8 even existed, until I saw the basket on the other side of the driveway. Hole 8 also brings a neighbor's house into play. I nearly threw my drive into their vegetable garden.

The basket for 9 was up next to a storage building. It appeared to have been moved from its proper spot as next to it were some stakes that obviously had just been pulled up. I played to the basket anyways, because there is no map and no navigation of any kind.

Even though this was likely put in for the youth of the church to enjoy, the length of some of these holes is totally inappropriate. Hole 1, 6 and 8 are all easily over 350, and as mentioned before, hole 8 has you throwing near the neighbor's house. A bunch of kids won't have the control to keep it out of their yard.

Other Thoughts:

Just don't come here unless you have the primal urge to bag all the courses in Alabama. It's in the middle of nowhere and there is nothing nearby to make the drive actually worth it. If you are coming from I65, just stop off in Hartselle and play the two courses there; they are 100 times better than this 'course'.

I get that this was put in for the youth group at the church, but even for that demographic, it is not good.

Unfortunately, the only interesting part of this property is the cemetery next to the church. It has large trees and would've definitely been memorable if one basket was in the middle of the cemetery. That would be worth another half star right there.
