Pros:
Foote is an interesting course. When you pull in you see an open soccer field and a few baskets in the distance and your mind right away goes to "OK here we go with another one of these crappy open courses" but luckily that is not the case here. The course plays around the edges of the park utilizing trees, a slough (yes there are water hazards) and lots of OB including the parking lot. The designers were even able to get some longer par 3 and a par 4 hole into this space without having lots of overlap, truly a design feat in and of itself.
The city or whatever entity who is foot(e)ing the bill has gone all out. The first hole's tee area has a kiosk of sorts, lots of advertising, telling you where to buy and rent discs, etc. it looks like a private course who is really involved but this is in a city. The tee pads are all very long and concrete, the baskets are new and in fantastic condition. Someone cares about this place, truly loves it and takes care of it, great to see.
Navigation is easy, no maps or phone apps required.
Cons:
Even though the designers have done an excellent job and the city is behind them this piece of land is not ideal. It does play away from the open fields but a larger piece of land that doesn't share an area with other park users would be much better. We played this early in the morning during a course bagging trip and no one was here but if soccer is going on this course is unplayable. 2 holes throw over the parking lot and 1 plays around it in a horseshoe shape. With any kind of presence of cars these holes become unplayable. Also a few baskets are close to the road and the bathrooms, volleyball areas that again would be unplayable if anyone was around.
Other Thoughts:
Overall a very pleasant surprise from what it looks like from the road and parking lot. This is a really well done and fun 9 hole course if you can play it during off hours. Worth the stop if you're in Boise or Nampa.
