A decent Park Course in the Middle of Nowhere 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 23, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

The park - Beautiful course with a nice stream running through most of the park. Lots of bathrooms and trash cans and other amenities. It's always a bonus to have restrooms nearby.

Baskets - Though there are two types of baskets (Innova on the front and Predator on the back) both are good and catch very well.

Interesting shots - There are some neat holes out there. Some longer , bomber holes. Some short , techy shots. And I would say that there are a couple of just really pretty shots that could pass as "signature holes". I'm a big fan of hole 8 that plays over the creek. There is a giant willow tree that could come into play here and the tee shot is scenic.

Flow - Each hole moves into the next without having to search for them . And none of the holes really interfere with others.

Signs - There are signs. they aren't amazing , but the distance on them seems to be close. A little bit of feedback though; The red on those signs is almost impossible to read from any kind of distance at all. There is also a nice map of the entire park at hole 1.

Cons:

The front 9 doesn't have one level tee pad. Hole 9's tee pad feels like a skateboard ramp. And yeah, they are concrete tee pads, but they feel very slick because of the way they were broomed. Also, about half of the tee pads on the front don't point to the actual holes at all. Not a giant deal, but they are narrow pads so moving to one side or another isn't really an option.
The back 9 has incomplete tee pads. Most of them are framed in plastic pads with weird ridges on them. We opted to tee off from outside of the boxes instead. They were unusable.

The sign posts are ENTIRELY too close to the front of the tee boxes. Dangerously so on several holes. metal framed tee signs shouldn't be a foot from the end of a tee pad.

A lot of the course was very, very wet and had tons of standing water. I know this can't be helped, but it is a negative.

Other Thoughts:

This is pretty "Typical' disc golf course . Nothing terrible. Nothing crazy exciting. Worth a play if you are in that area, but I am not sure I would go to JUST play this course. Maybe throw this and Winchester and Richmond together on an outing to say you played all three?

To bump this up to a "good" or "very good" course, I would say that the tee pads need to be finished, the signs should be moved to the back of the tee pads, and the front pads need to be leveled out.
As it stands, this course is pretty typical park golf.
