Pros:
The beginner friendly 9-hole track at Mauthe Park has excellent amenities for a new course! Excellent colored tee signs and concrete tee pads are present on every hole. There is also a large map right at the start.
The first six holes provide a few fun shot opportunities. Several elevation changes occur throughout these holes, as well as a few tighter shots through mature trees.
Two sets of tees, with the short tees appealing to children or very new players.
Cons:
Holes 7-9 are, nicely put, not good. After finishing #6 (which is my favorite hole on the course), you go right into three open, flat holes that are just lackluster compared to the rest of the course. Also, holes 7-9 aren't playable during softball games.
I could see some pedestrian danger during busier days. A few holes play over paths and through obstacles such as light poles and benches.
Other Thoughts:
Overall, more seasoned players won't find much challenge at Mauthe Park. However, it is a great place to bring newbies to the sport.
