Pros:
Rolling Hills DGC is a nice little recreational length course set in a park with scattered tree and some very slightly rolling terrain. I like the fact that there is a Dis Golf sign attached to the Rolling Hills Park sign out on the street. Disc golf has come a long way when it's being advertised as a legitimate park activity.
The old course sign at # 1 is faded and illegible. The concrete tee pads are rutted for better traction in rain. The baskets are older and the numbers on top have been painted in a rainbow color pattern. There is a garbage can here at # 1.
# 1 is a cool little hole. It's about 225' it a basket tucked into the trees. You can hyser out over the street a little. # 2 was also a neat little hole, probably just 140', but to a basket tucked under some branches and a little water hazard (long ago dried up).
# 3 was open and boring 175' to a wide open basket.
Like others, I got a little confused at # 4. I think I finally figured out where the pad was.
# 6 was wide open, 325'. And # 9 was a really boring 290' open holes back across the dirt to a basket near the start.
Cons:
A few too many wide open holes with no obstacles.
Howling Kansas wind.
Busy street on # 1 could easily come into play.
Confusion on # 4 and 6.
Other Thoughts:
I enjoyed this course and the park. I's like to see it other times of the year when it's not so dry and parched. I'd also like to play it once when the winds weren't so fierce.
I don't see this course as a beginner course at all. I think with it's length, it's a solid little recreational course. I enjoyed playing it. It's another great stop on the I-70 Kansas road trip.
