Pros:
Free private course set on scenic waterfront property along the North East River at the Sandy Cove Ministries Conference Center. The course consists of 9 Holes with Mach II baskets playing in a clockwise loop around the ball fields back to the parking lot. Tees are marked via sunken painted cinder blocks with distance marked.
Decent course for their intended audience - rank beginners, being mostly short distance wise with flat elevation and wide open. A couple holes have some trees to shape a shot around or between. Gives you some ace run opportunities. Quick to play a round.
Loaner discs by tee for hole 1. Lots of field space for practice.
Cons:
Can be hard to find some of the next tees with the only indicator being the sunken cinder blocks although usually not too far from previous basket. Some of the baskets are leaning.
Not very provocative for experienced players.
Other Thoughts:
Driving through the beautiful complex you see so much potential in the woodland wonderland, then you get to the main visitor center where the course is at and it's mainly just some baskets spread around some open ball fields which makes it all feel like a big tease. At least you get to see the North East River somewhat during your round.
If Sandy Cove was so inclined they could potentially build an awesome destination disc golf course or two. I mean it has happened at some other Christian Camps like Camp Sankanac and Frost Valley YMCA, and the other facilities at Sandy Cove are much nicer than the disc golf course in comparison. I can dream, right?
