Pros:
.
Saratoga Spa State Park is a nine basket loop with two sets of poured concrete tees (A and B). It appears to have originally been a nine, with the second set of tees added later (based on the navigation signs not all the new ones are the "B"s. They've done some mixing).
The hole variety is surprisingly good, given that the layout is a loop around a large parking lot and the park pool. Relatively open out front (several making clever use of trees dotted around the grass areas), and a few holes using the thick woods in the back. It's all pretty flat, though #6A plays up to a raised green across a small valley.
Excellent signage, brooms and bag hooks at most tees. Note the distances on the signs - they differ considerably on a few holes compared to uDisc distances (I trusted the signs). There are small directional signs to help with next tee navigation, although a few take you to the "wrong" tee depending on which set you're playing. Not a big deal. The longest walk is from 6 to 7, and it's well-marked.
The "stars" are 6-8, which bring woods into play. Both 7A and 7B are pretty remarkable: tight gaps cut out of old growth forest, with pines towering high above, and a blanket of pine needles covering the narrow fairways
Cons:
.
- The layouts play across paved walking paths on several holes

~ There's only one par 4 (462' Hole 1B), the rest all being par 3's. The location and simple layout suggests this to be a beginner-friendly course, but some holes have some pretty serious distance for par 3's. Five of them are over 300' and 4B is 429': wide open, but a lot of ground to cover for a par 3. Most holes are open enough to welcome newbies but it's a lot of length for a beginner-friendly course.
~ The amenities and general conditions, the beautifully mowed grass that encompasses most of the fairways, and the variety provided by the really nice wooded holes make Saratoga Spa a solid 3.0. It kind of earns a higher rating for having only nine baskets because of all the good things it has going for it. Old reviews (with low ratings appropriate for the time) are out of date.
~ Fine (if a bit long in places) for beginners. Enjoyable for experienced players. By no means a destination course, but very pleasant for bagging. Show up off season or after 4:40pm to avoid the $10 parking fee.
