Pros:

Stallion Acres is a newly opened to the public private course as of May 2024. I talked to the owner Zach and he said this course has been in the ground in different configurations for six years now. You can see signs of older setups in spots but the current iteration is a very fun, heavily wooded course that features some rolling hills but plays mostly on the flatter side.

The tee are nicely built turf pads. Probably 7'x4'. Plenty big enough and all were level and in great shape. Hole 1's tee juts out of the side of a hill and is built on a platform making it perfectly level on a pretty steep hillside. There's a single trapezoid shaped concrete tee on hole 16 as well. Excellent tees for a private course.

The baskets are a mix. The majority are Prodigy T2's, both blue and red colored which makes spotting them a breeze in the woods. There's also a few MVP Black Hole baskets out there too, also blue or red colored. Hole 19's basket is a Mach which is located in the owners backyard. So three different types, all of which are in great shape and catch nicely. There's also three random brands of practice baskets next to the parking lot/driveway which is awesome. So 22 solid targets in total on the property. Outstanding for a private backyard course.

The course is mostly wooded and is more RHBH friendly I felt, but there are still some definite FH favorable holes sprinkled in. Honestly just being able to throw a dead straight shot is going to be the most useful shot to have out here though. The distances are almost all in between two and four hundred feet. The two exceptions are hole 19 (170' downhill) and hole 7 which is listed as a 570' par 4. This is the only par 4 on the course. I wasn't able to actually play 7 today due to the absurd amount of rain we've been getting recently making it unplayable. Looked it over and it looks like a good one when dry.

Really solid design for the most part. It's not the biggest chunk of land but Zach did a hell of a job fitting 19 holes out there. Just a really fun set up and plays more like an actual course and not just something in someone's backyard.

Cons:

No tee signs currently. I'd advise having the Udisc app to help with navigation if it's your first time playing here. Even then a few next tee arrows would do wonders to ease some of the lengthier transitions between holes.

There's a few spots that appear to not drain the greatest, especially hole 7. Not a huge deal for most of the year but not the best place to play after lots of rain without waterproof footwear.

A number of fairways play very close to each other or even share parts of the same fairway playing in different directions. Not a huge deal with it being private and playable by appointment only, but worth noting I guess.

Other Thoughts:

This course was a treat to play. So much so that I played it twice and would've did a third round if the weather would've held off for another hour. Great addition to the WI Rapids area. If fact it's the best course in the Rapids area imo. Bonus points for being about three minutes away from South Park of Wood County's 12 hole course. Highly recommend this course if you're over this way. If you are planning on playing it be sure to try to get ahold of Zach at least a day ahead of time though. Very good course that's only going to get better. Loved it.
