There are baskets. In a park.

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 21, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

- high quality Discmania baskets
- full color tee signs with maps
- turf tees are acceptable enough
- navigation is straightforward... there are only 3 holes :)
- course sign with map
- next tee indicators in baskets
- typical park amenities such as benches and garbage
- other family-friendly activities such as playground, splash pad, racquet sports, etc.
- area in park is mostly devoted to disc golf
- course doubles as a foot golf course
- some mature tree hazards incorporated to make this more than a field
- well-maintained park
- street parking (more convenient) or lot parking on other side of park

Cons:

- only 3 holes
- you'll be done in 10 minutes
- almost entirely flat
- no significant obstacles or distance to make a true challenge here
- will need to watch out for other park activities

Other Thoughts:

Thornton MultiGolfPark was a hard course to rate. A 1.0 described as "poor" seemed unfair. For what it is, this is a nice course. However, it's also only 3 holes - it's just not going to warrant a really high score. There's nothing that exciting here but what they did put in is a nice space. This is hard to call a course and really is more just a quick activity to try while you're already at the park.

As most will notice, I have many more pros than cons. The 3 holes that are here, while not very exciting, are respectable and designed well enough for the space available. This is very close to another 9 hole course in Ottawa. It's definitely not something anyone is going to come out of their way for, but if you want to bag it, it's a fun 10 minutes throwing some ace runs.

The park is pristine and has a ton of family-friendly activities. It really is a nice little area, just not much going on for disc golf here. The course doubling as a foot golf course is cool; I've only seen this a few other places (sadly, I've never seen anyone using a course for this, but it seems like it could be fun).

There's not much more to say about this little park - it's flat and somewhat open but fun enough for something quick and casual. There is a lot of decent disc golf in the Ottawa/LaSalle area if you want to make a day trip of it.
