About me:
-I discovered disc golf when I was about 4 years old. Sounds crazy, but it's true! I have slowly kept playing as I've grown up.
-Disc Golf is NOT my main hobby. I am a scratch ball golfer, and play in competitive tournaments. I would consider Disc Golf as my 2nd hobby.
-I am a recreational player. My friends and I will go out and play to have a good time. To give you a sense of how well I play, at my home course (Reedy Creek) I average about +2.
-I am a teen with restricted travel. That's why you'll see that I've only played/reviewed courses within Charlotte. However, during a vacation I will try to play a course in that area.
-I only use the DGCR section of this website. The only time I will use the social section is if I am writing a PM.
-If you have any questions, please ask. I will respond to you only if your question is related to a course. Please don't ask me questions about discs, player ratings, etc.
A little about my review criteria:
-Personally, I write my reviews based on a courses caliber. I do my best to not write about my feelings toward a course (how much I liked/disliked it), unless it's necessary. Even if I do write an opinionated statement, I will not let that increase/decrease my rating.
-For example, I don't really like to play at Eastway Park for whatever reason, but I still rated the course a 4.0 because of its high caliber.
What I try to include in my reviews:
These are the major topics that effect my review the most:
-Variety. A course that has an abundance of shot shapes and features will earn a higher rating.
-Elevation. A course with a good mix of uphill, downhill, and flat holes will earn a higher rating.
-Challenge. A course that is difficult, but fair, will earn a higher rating.
-Hole types. A course that has a good mix of open, partially open, wooded, and water holes will earn a higher rating.
-Risk/Reward. A course that has a few good risk/reward shots will earn a higher rating.
-Distance: A course that has a good mix of par 3's, 4's, and 5's will earn a higher rating.
-Layout. A course that has 18 holes will earn a higher rating than a course with 9 holes.
-Fun factor. Since one's enjoyment varies from person to person, this may not be a relevant topic to you. However, I think a course is more fun when many, if not all of the topics I mentioned above are present.
These are the minor topics that effect my review the least, and will only change my overall score by 0.5 at the most:
-Navigation. A course that has simple, smooth transitions will earn a higher rating.
-Disc loss. A course with a low disc loss probability will earn a higher rating.
-Replay ability. A course that offers multiple tee pads and baskets per hole will earn a higher rating.
-Maintenance. A course that is well kept and clean will earn a higher rating.
-Tee pads. A course that has big tee pads with a nice texture/grip will earn a higher rating.
-Baskets. A course that has strongly mounted baskets that catch well will earn a higher rating (I prefer Mach III, V, and Chainstar, but Veteran and DISCatchers are good as well).
-Tee signs/maps. A course that has tee signs with accurate distances and maps will earn a high rating.
