Critters on the course you ran into...

Biggest Bull Snake I've ever seen. BIG Mac DGC at Mackenzie Park, Lubbock, TX May 2020. Lives in a Prairie Dog colony.

CHECK IN - Rules 2025 - Support if you agree.

Here is from PDGA on line rules: 1.04 EVENT CHECK-IN This sets standards for TDs to notify players of check-in requirements. It also outlines player check-in requirements at A-Tier events with staggered starts and scheduled tee times. It says only A-Tier so there seems to be some glitch.

    Schiller Playfield Temp Course discussion

Interesting experiment. Six holes play parallel to OB creek or/and road. On its face that doesn't sound fun or beginner friendly. An overview would help. How big is creek? Easy to retrieve discs?

Ricky's Lie on #8 of DDO Finals

What the pic doesn't show is that the layer of water extends into the grass and is not noticeable without getting close to look. I hope the decision wasn't made over the phone. Surely there was an designated official in the crowd of such a big event. Forgot to mention that the camera crew stood...

What does a "group majority" mean?

From krupicka: "FWIW I interpret majority as majority of those "voting". That is how most votes are tallied for elections, etc." Then I would suggest that abstention is a valid vote. So is "I don't know". This isn't the Colosseum after all. If I didn't hear or see something or if my brain or...

Ricky's Lie on #8 of DDO Finals

Since we've already discussed rulings and non-rulings during this tournament here's another. Kind of long. There was a groan when Ricky's Tee on #8 came out low, slow, and short disappearing over a tiny hill (35:06). Unknown, it was in a drainage swale. See it in flyover at 33:55. The fairways...

What does a "group majority" mean?

For a rule edit could you say "majority of players on the card"? Then spell it out: 2 of 3, 3 of 4, 3 of 5, 4 of 6 ...

What does a "group majority" mean?

This is why I think the rule could explain better. You described a plurality-the decision that got the greatest number of votes. A majority vote in most jurisdictions is more than half of the voting population. That's why we often have runoffs after general elections because no candidate...

Then HK does this on Hole 8, Finals @41:01. But she didn't touch it!

What does a "group majority" mean?

801.03 A. When a group cannot reach a majority decision regarding a ruling, the ruling is based on the interpretation that is most beneficial to the thrower. 4-person card making IB/OB decision 1-Thrower, In 1-I don't know/can't tell 2-OB I think 2 is not a majority of the card so, IB. This...

    2024 dynamic discs open

Opinions on Emily Weatherman's OB call on 18? Kind of looked like a "welcome to the big league" statement. Surely they knew the implications of IB.

Is there a limit to "Helping to find a lost disc"?

A thought: Simplify by having Mandatory Relief areas/objects and Optional Relief areas/objects. These areas must be defined so you can't just call relief for a disc lost in any tall weeds or leaves. Determine lie & line of play same as OB. Eliminate Casual. All rules can be abused. "Casual...

Is there a limit to "Helping to find a lost disc"?

This is the best analysis of this rule I've seen. Not a convert but I really appreciate the effort to help me understand the rationale.

Watched a little practice at #18. The second LZ is thin. The big change now is the spectator views. Tons of views from both sides of pond.

Is there a limit to "Helping to find a lost disc"?

Personally, I think that should apply to Casual & Relief also but per a speaker phone conversation with RC Chair and our TD, "compelling evidence" only applies to OB and specifically not to Casual. The rational was it would be abused. Relief Area didn't come up in that convo.
