I'm a truck driver currently stranded for the weekend at the Pilot truck stop in Houston. I have my bag with me (always). Wouldn't mind getting a round in if someone was willing to pick me up. I would of course chip in for gas and a few after game Corona's. PM if interested.
Last game I played was with a local pro. Hole 5 is a pretty open and a little over 500'. He whipped out his new Boss and proceeded to park it. Nearly 500' into a pretty sturdy headwind, WOW. I was definitely impressed. He says it's pretty understable and he has to put quite a bit of hyzer on it...
Anyone ever been invited to throw frisbee in your normal picnic-BarBque setting by people who don't know that you throw for sport.
How'd that go? Who holds the distance record on your basic Wham-O.
Sold! Marshall Street has a Firebird coming my way for the #5 slot, and a Roc. Going to keep the T-bird in the #4 for now though. I don't think my game is really up to speed 9 disc's yet, but we'll see. I seem to be progressing at a decent pace, and nothing says I have to pull them out.
I think I've thrown that AA twice and not recently, just pulled it out. I'll give it a few throws and see if it even stays. If not, I still have a Cheetah to put in it's place.
The thing I find most satisfying is putting my putter or Roc out past the Wraiths and Destroyers of my fellow competitors. We've all seen these guys who are "all about the disc" and it's a nice ego boost for me to show them up. Now I just need to suck it up and really practice my putting :sigh:
I was lucky enough to find this forum just as I started playing, which was about 4 months ago. I followed the advice; drive putters, one disc rounds with mids (Roc), slower drivers (Cheetah, Gazelle), throwing everything from a static position.
At this time, I can park a putter on holes that...
OMG- totally spit coffee through my nose!
Really though, no steel, maybe a bit of rubber coating around the edge, but I don't think that would be needed. Also thinking about carbon fiber discs, talk about super cool. Does anyone here know a basket weaver? Why not a reed or grass putter, all...
Been thinking of making some discs out of wood. Has anyone ever seen this or any other discs made out of anything but plastic? I'm talking about actual usable discs, not just show pieces.
