I've been pretty solid about not loosing discs lately, but i got stuck up in a tree.... pissed of 30 minutes later after throwing rocks I got it down, but it sorta got me thinking about creative disc retrieval. Wondering if anybody has cool ideas. Obviously the golden retriever is a hit and It's common for folks out here to carry a baseball for trees, but what else....
Here are a few of my ideas, wondering if anybody's tried/seen/or can top these:
1) Discs in Trees- Anybody tried an airsoft pistol? Seems like the ammo is soft and biodegradable and I can't imagine 200-300fps would put a dent/hole in disc. I would think it could move a disc pretty well though... I've been keeping my eye on prices, but it seems like 25-30$ could get you there, and they have some pretty small pistols that would fit in a bag...it would also be pretty fun.
2) Disc on Ice - RC car with a hook to get discs off of the ice. Seems like they are light enough to stay above water. You'd need a good enough one with decent control reception range, but it seems feasable...CONS- you'd probably have to leave it in your car and the cost may prohibitive to get one that works well.
3) disc in water- Remote contol submarine with a claw, infared lighting, urethane sensors, and wireless camera to get to the hardest places....Not feasable, but I salivate when I think about all the CE plastic deep in the depths of various courses. Finding a first run CE teebird that has been wet for a couple years, would really test my conscience on calling the name on the back.
Based on the posts I see I am pretty confident at least a few of you dream of the sunken CE/first run treasure 10" out of reach....
