as a course manager i have put 2 extra garbage bins on the course (the city provides 1). this did reduce the amount of litter found on the ground throughout the course.
the most litter on this course comes from the homeless/vagrants in the summer that have no regard, strewing garbage & whatever else they have around where they 'camp'.
the second biggest contributor is the wind; so much garbage all over after a windstorm (blows in from city neighborhoods).
i have also seen someone stop on the street, open their trunk, pull out 2 full garbage bags, and put them in the course trashcan.
i can tell you it is mostly drink containers(mostly beer) in the bins i provide (& empty, recycling the aluminum).
