rip versus letting go

I have done a ton of research but have still yet to figure out the last part of the release. Do you keep a tight grip and let it rip out or do you let go at the last second?

Neither, at least for me. I don't give the disc a kung-fu death grip, I hold it somewhat loosely, and let the whipping action rip the disc out of my grip.

You have to find just the right tightness of grip that allows you to whip the disc with great speed and not come out until the final pivot point. Some people release, but I believe the majority of throwers allow the disc to rip out of the fingers.
