Pros:
Abendschein is a very beginner friendly pitch n putt style course. The first half of the course plays around a wooded area, and the second half of the course is a bit more open. Here's what I enjoyed about my round there:
*Lots of different lines off the tee
*Nice tee-pads and baskets
*Four of the holes are long enough to let bigger arms grab their drivers and let it rip.
*Hole 8 was by far the best hole on the course. 475' with a few different lines to choose from to get to the pin, but with some punishing rough on either side. Definitely a quality hole.
Cons:
With the exception of three or four holes, Abendschein is extremely short and boring. At least half the holes on the course are in the 150'-200' range. The course ends and begins on wide open, bland 200' holes. The lack of exciting golf was the key contributor to my low rating of this course.
Other Thoughts:
I came here several years ago and played the course in the old layout. When I saw that it had been redesigned and had a fairly high rating on this site, I was excited to see the new design for myself. Unfortunately I found my round here to be very disappointing, and the redesign did not result in a quality disc golf course.
If you're with someone who is playing disc golf for the first time, Abendschein might be a decent option, but anyone who plays disc golf regularly will not be excited by this course.
