Fun Course in a Beautiful Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 21, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Good distance, lots of holes to air out your drivers which I think is fun
- The park is really nice and you get nice views of a lake and just some nice open nature space
- Good mix of throws
- Relatively difficult to lose a disc. Bit of tall brush here and there, but you shouldn't have to spend a ton of time looking for errant throws

Cons:

- A bit hard to figure out which basket you're throwing to the 1st time you play
- I felt the distances were a bit inaccurate on the signs, but I could be crazy, who knows
- Not a ton of elevation / up and down for any holes, almost entirely flat

Other Thoughts:

I will certainly be playing this course again! Had a lot of fun, and it's fun how often you get to make long throws.

A nice sunny walk in the park 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 2, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice course once you get to it. There is a water spigot available on the path near the first few holes. Happen to see a biker stop off at it.

Good baskets and tee pads. Nice V-Shaped concrete pads. Nice tee signs with sitting areas and frequent tables at pads.

You can find most of the baskets before you throw you tee shot. That is not the case for #18. It wasn't where we thought it'd be. However, it didn't matter much as it's a long hole and recoverable.

Mostly wide open prairie lands with some trees. You can definitely unleash some throws, although you may need to hold back on some holes. Some baskets are blind shots from the tee box.

Fun yet still challenging course.

Cons:

LONG walk from parking lot to first hole with any directions pointing the way. However, there were an occasional group of disc golfers heading back that provided guidance.

Some shade but you need sunscreen to play. A bit dusty at times as well.

Some baskets on top of a mound. Missing a putt could lead to a roller down the hill and being further away than you started.

There is a large body of water next to one of the holes. Throw it to the right and you are in brush. Throw it left and you are in the water. Throw it straight and watch it roll down the mound towards the obstacle you were trying to avoid.

LOTS of stick-tights. You'll be pulling them out of your shoes and socks for days.

Other Thoughts:

I came straight from the airport. First course in CO.
I struggled a bit with the altitude and the heat (90+).
However, I still had fun.

Adams Hollow the Perfect Follow 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 7, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Adams Hollow in Brighton CO was the third course I played on my visit to the area. It is a really nice course that has good equipment and plenty of room to work on most of the fairways.

The elevation changes are fairly minor, but there are a couple of slopes that add zest to the pin placements. Water is nearby on a couple of holes, but it is not a huge factor.

There are sizable trees spread sporadically around the park, but there is far more open space to let it fly. The surface has some low brush, but is often thin or bare, so my drivers took some really big skips.

Only one set of tees, but several holes have alternate pin placements. All holes are par 3, and there is a great mix of short and long, with a good number of intermediate distances. A round at or near par is plausible on the first round for an average player.

I was one over for the day on the only round, with one birdie and two bogies. Really should have made par, but I took a terrible three putt on hole 7 that turned a possible birdie into an embarrassment.

It isn't as majestic or challenging as some of the other nearby courses I've played, but it makes good use of the landscape and the layout isn't too tough for less experienced players. It is the next level up from Johnny Roberts. Easy to follow and not crowded when I was there.

Open enough to have wind be a significant factor in those conditions. Sunscreen recommended under clear skies.

Cons:

I enjoyed the round, but did not encounter any holes that really grabbed my attention. Consistently good but never extraordinary.

The walk into the park is kind of long. Once you get to the first tee navigation is pretty easy, but there's a sign with the course map on it if you want to get a quick pic.

Did have a gentleman waking his little dog the wrong direction on hole 8, and he witnessed my only deuce.

Other Thoughts:

Adams Hollow is a pretty good course that was on the way to the next one, so I'm glad I stopped by. It was the perfect compliment after playing JR in Arvada and Bailey earlier on the trip.

Not an instant classic for me, but good enough to visit if you're spending time nearby. It is not too demanding but still has some interesting and fun holes. I look forward to further exploring more Colorado courses in the future.

Pros:

Great layout with mixes of LONG and short holes.

Cons:

Not many. Would like to see another port-a-potty on the back 9. Long course, so bring water.

Other Thoughts:

Try catching the drink cart for the golf course. She'll hook you up cash only.

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 3, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

- concrete tee pads
- good baskets
- new tee signs with all the info you need
- multiple basket placements with an orange cone on the unused position which made it easy to know when its in the long position
- navigation of the course is fairly simple
- good variety of distances ranging from 200 to 500 feet
- a decent amount of trees and obstacles to make for some technical throws
- interesting basket placements to make for some tough decisions

Cons:

- a decent walk from the parking lot to the first tee
- the course is mostly all flat
- a couple fairways and greens are somewhat close to other holes and tee pads making some slight danger issues, but sort of just looking for cons

Other Thoughts:

One of the best courses in the whole metro area. Great competition course that offers tons of challenge but isn't too difficult for an intermediate or even a beginner.

Fun course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 3, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Tee signs
Well maintained, no trash
Access to bathroom
Don't need to go into Denver

Cons:

No water
Needs improved tee pads
Multiple pin placements would be nice
Couple holes you are throwing in on the previous group

Other Thoughts:

This is a very fun course. Not the most challenging, but very fun. Scores will be low, limited OB, fast play make for a fast paced experience. It's surrounded by nice mature trees, and while some of the holes aren't signature, none of them are bad. I took my wife and children to play as well, made it through without whining. Would have liked to have had a water fountain in or spigot.

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 11, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

currently its wide open with the winter killing most growth and foliage, can see it being a real technical course during the spring through fall.

Cons:

non concrete tee pads at this juncture allow the clay to get real wet and kinda negates the pad from a lot of the shots, but once they get concrete, or it dries out it would be real nice.

Other Thoughts:

room for improvement on this young course, with lots of space for more or differing tee's and alternate baskets too. the future is real bright for this course.
