Decent beginner course in the space available 2+ years drive by

Pros:
Nice Beginner/family level 9 hole course in small city park. Fairways are grassy and appear to be mowed regularly. Obstacles include isolated trees, perimeter fences, batting cage with netting, and even a small army tank that sits in front of basket #6. Good amount and variety of elevation- up and down of varying degrees. Nice hole length variations as well.
Concrete tees are flat with tread (though a little too short when compared to the norm). Excellent signage for hole numbers, distance, and navigation (with one small exception*).
Baskets are solid, easy to spot with large yellow steel plate on top with number in black (maybe the most visible basket numbers I have seen!) I would like to see all courses put these on their baskets. I wished I had brought a camera so others could see them.
Lots of parking, nice large picnic pavilion, nice and clean restrooms between 8 and 9 which is close to the parking area.

Cons:
It is crammed into a small space, no big deal if you are the only one in the park, but issues if people are playing baseball, at picnic tables, driving on the park roads, etc. There were cars parked on one fairway. The course plays close to several fences that border baseball fields, the pool, and several neighboring businesses (if you throw a disc over the park boundary you could probably get your disc later if your drove out of the park and around to these businesses). There is even a chance to launch a disc several hundred feet over a fence off over a tall cliff onto some large flat department store roofs if not careful on holes 8 and 9. (not recommending one do that, just saying it is possible on a high errant drive).
*Sign for #4 says it is by the "play area." I don't know what that is never saw one, so just follow the back fence around the brick building that says it contains explosive materials (I know, right!), and the tee is there near the pool.

Other Thoughts:
It could be a good place to introduce people to the game if the park is not busy- includes enough variety to show what disc golf is all about (and the fences should encourage people to throw low and level rather than the sky-high hyzers that so many beginners do.) After this course is mastered, however, people will need to make the drive to Bowling Green for more interesting courses.
I had a difficult time finding this course as there were plenty of brown road signs with arrows toward the park to get you close, but the entrance is kind of hidden and the main park sign is small. It is right across from the Pizza Hut and the swimming pool you will see is part of the park so turn in right there.

OB: Hole1 (Parking Lot Behind Basket), Hole3 (Baseball Field Right/Fence Left), Holes 5&6 (Road Left), Hole7 (Fence Left). Hole 9 (Fence).
The American Legion Park in Glasgow offers a short, simple 9-hole disc golf course in a very small park with plenty of ace runs. The course layout was decent and easy to navigate, with signs where needed to point you in the right direction. Minimal elevations are present throughout the course and create a good mix of up/down hill holes, but nothing drastic or difficult to navigate. The home-made baskets were in decent shape, but the baskets do not have enough chains to catch very well with only a single set of 8 chains which leaves big gaps all around. I had several putts blow right through the chains and out the other side. The cage on the baskets also have big gaps both at the bottom and around the edges, so you will be picking your disc up off the ground rather than out of the basket on most holes. The tee pads were small, but adequate considering the short nature of the course.
Course Breakdown:
Hole1-165ft slightly uphill with only a few trees to clear. Good ace run but risk of going OB with a parking lot close behind and to the right of the basket.
Hole2-195ft slightly downhill with a defined left to right fairway.
Hole3-375ft, basket straight ahead but fairway goes down and back up. Ball fields right and fence left play OB. With the elevation on this hole and right to left sloping fairway, it would be easy to hyzer out and lose a disc over the fence.
Hole4-250ft, slightly downhill with trees on either side of a moderately wide gentle left to right fairway.
Hole5-140ft, slightly uphill with few trees, definite ace run.
Hole6-210ft, slightly downhill with several trees, road OB on the left, and an army tank perched directly in front of the basket.
Hole7-260ft, straightforward, slightly downhill hole. The fence on the left is OB and has actually been doubled in height to try to prevent discs from flying the fence, you miss and go over the fence, your disc ends up in a bank parking lot with plenty of cars.
Hole8-210ft uphill but straightforward with only a few trees.
Hole9-260ft slightly uphill with several trees to clear, watch out for the pavilion just to the right of the basket!

-Tee Pads: The sand is probably okay when its dry, but the day I played it was very wet and clumpy. The framed tee pads were adequate, but the sand was a little slick and messy.
-Safety Concerns: The park is very small and everything is packed tightly together. The parking lot near 1 is right behind the basket and to the left. It would be very easy to over-throw the basket into the parking lot and hit nearby people/vehicles. Tee pad for Hole5 is RIGHT BEHIND 4's basket, plus you can't see it from 4's tee, could easily throw into group ahead if not careful. Small building (concession stand maybe) very near basket for Hole8. Pavilion very near basket for Hole9.

Other Thoughts:
The course is conveniently located less than 4miles off of the Cumberland parkway, and around 10miles off of I-65. If you are in the area or driving through and have some time, it's a decent place to play a very quick 9-holes, but I would not recommend going out of your way to play this course.
