It is an interesting course, and not crowded at all (didn't see any other players when I went). Some fun holes that challenge your accuracy. Not very long (I feel like I wasn't trying to crush it on any of the holes), but the tight fairways and pen placement make up for it and kept me from shooting a sub-par round

As previously mentioned, the amount of trees might be a little excessive. You had to have the perfect shot to stay in the fairway, and if you didn't, it was sometimes hard to find your disc because it could bounce off of 5 trees before it finally settled down. This could easily be fixed with some trimming and or flat out removal of a couple of trees on most of the holes

Tee Boxes- couple of them need some work. I wasn't ready for the shortness of the first pad, and I fell off after my throw. Also, the astro-turf was new to me, and it started to rain during our round which got them a little slick.

some maintenance is necessary- my friend leaned against a tree, which then in turn fell over and about crushed him. It was little things like that which need attention. A couple of course days out there could get the course in top condition- just need to get the people out there, and this course could become quite the little course to challenge your accuracy and disc placement

if they take out a few trees on each hole so there is lane to throw in would make this course much better. I spent more time looking for my discs that bounced off trees into the woods than playing. it made for a frustrating round

I tried the course again and it is tight. all it needs is a few trees to trimmed up or cut down so there is a reasonable lane to throw through. too many pinball holes. if that gets cleaned up this course will be a nice change of pace course. maybe I am too hard on this course because I have Wellspring in Burlington close by and judge everything against that.

18 holes with excellent DIScatcher baskets in great, new shape. Mix of lefty/righty holes. Many holes short but yet tough with lots of trees. Tees are like this fake grass but yet smooth and even, always a plus. Tons of amenities on park site, like dog park, basketball courts, etc. Pretty much mostly clear of pedestrian traffic. Nice layout with the space available. Tight in most spots with a couple of open ace runs. Some longer holes and one pro par 4.

There were a lot of short holes, some of which just absolutely pinball-esque ( 2 comes to mind). Knocking down a tree or two would be all that's needed. Missing the fairway will lead you with nothing more than a chip-out back to fairway, easily allowing one short hole to ruin your card. No water as OB holes.

With a little skill and a little help, several holes are indeed birdieable. As already mentioned, several other park amenities are on site. Close to other disc golf courses, restaurants, and need I mention UNC? Good enough for me.

great wooded course. 1st hole is rite beside the entrance to the park.opened last april (09) has been cleaned up very well since then. grass matt pads over pack down gravel, good tees. one par 4. no water hazards. im a desent advanced player and hav finshed 5 down on my best day , i shot a 6 down on front 9 with an eagle duce on the 398 par 4. it will put ur game in check real quick. no over bearinly hard just no room to let up menetly. one open hole. holes are between 250 and 330ft. one par 4 is 420ft. favors rocs and sidearms, w a little luck and tomahawks u might save par 3 times in a round.but it tests ur game so much u revient urself each time you play there. my 2nd favorite course besides the highcountry in west jefferson. play grounds, dog park, 3 or 4 fields, bbal courts, walking trail around pond, plenty of good people its carboro.

none unless ur an am. for advanced and above u will love this course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The course has nice discatcher baskets and is rarely crowded. It is a good place to go if you are into tight wooded courses and you can throw EXTREMELY accurately. I don't know if the turf tees are a pro or a con. There are many other nice park amenities, even a dog park.

In my opinion, this course is way too tight. I have spoken with some other players in the area and most of them agree with me. Also, there isn't much variation to the course. Almost every hole is just throwing down an insanely tight fairway that bends either left or right at the end. When I was there, not all of the tees were finished, so I had to throw from an empty wooden box with uneven earth in the middle. There were no trash cans or benches.

If you are looking to play a game in the woods, head over to leigh farm, valley springs, or cornwallis. They are all very close, and have not-too-tight fairways, unlike this course. Even though this isn't my favorite course in the chapel hill-durham area, I am still glad to have it. If nothing else, it encourages you to be more accurate with your throws.

Good signs and clear walkways between holes. Hard to get lost unless you miss 13 across the road. Go towards the 3rd baseline of the field over there and you can't miss it. Tee pads are packed dirt or gravel in a wood frame with an indoor/outdoor carpet or artificial turf-like grass stretched over them. They are OK. Fairways are tight on most holes, but there are lines to hit if you are accurate. Not really any unfair or impossible fairways. Nice new baskets. Dog park and playground in same park complex. Nothing wrong with this course at all.

No concrete tee pads. Turf pads are OK, but sometimes my foot got stuck on the carpet. Not sure how long they will hold up. No long holes or wide open holes to really let loose. Seems like the holes were for the most part a little repetitive. Left dog-leg one hole followed by a right dog-leg the next. Too many holes with the same shape and feel.

I like this course for what it is. Short place to work on your woods game. Nothing spectacular, but nothing wrong either. If you're in the area it is definitely worth playing. Plus you can hit UNC and Leigh Farms without driving around too much. Bring 2 discs and work on your short game.

Shaded layout, Tight Wooded Shots can be a challenge, not crowded like UNC course. Tiny frogs can be found all over the course during the summer. We saw 50+. Park has tons of other stuff to do and is never very crowded. This course is great if you want to "get away" so to speak

Most of the holes on this course are tight wooded fairways that curve left, and the repetitive layout of the course kinda makes for a dull round. Lots of places to lose a disc if you aren't careful, and walking around in the rough areas sucks if you arent wearing pants and shoes. tons of loose rocks, spiders, bugs, typical woods creatures, but with a 10 ft wide fairway on almost every hole, you will be encountering them alot.

No tee pads can be a major bummer when you slip on the loose rocks or pine needles on the tee, but there is a prototype "pervious tee pad" on hole one that shows some promise. Some of the holes are right on top of each other, but its ok since its never too crowded.

Its nice to have a change of pace, but if i'm looking for something more than UNC, I'll probably just go to cedar hills.

Signs simple, but accurate. Very easy to navigate, except 12 to 13 (go past the softball field to the left of the bleachers). Close proximity to other Chapel Hill and Durham courses. Short, but makes up for it with super tight windows. Decent variety of shot types required (made me wish I had better hammer/thumbers). Not crowded. No interference from the park, despite being close on a number of holes. There are rocks marking the path to the hole on 13 now (one on either side of the clearing in the woods). Discatcher baskets.

The windows can be pretty darn small, which doesn't bother me too much but can easily damage some egos. Had a couple of people wander onto the course, but they were cool when I explained I was about to throw near them. No really memorable holes, but the blind ace run on 13 over the field into the woods is pretty fun. No chance to really unleash a huge drive, which I actually like because I have a weak arm but understand is a con to many players. Seems to favor a right hand backhander a little too much, but some of the holes are shaped such that an anhyzer forehand is actually a better shot. No benches or trash cans, but the course is well integrated into the park so there is plenty of chance to take a break to throw things away or sit down in the park if you need to. Dirt teepads, but they were testing some astroturf looking stuff on hole one that seemed promising.

I heard bad things about this course, but I actually enjoyed it and we ended up playing twice. The duck flies at midnight. Be prepared to hit some trees, because this course it TIGHT. There is a dog park, sports fields, basketball and tennis courts, picnic tables, and maybe even some BBQ pits (I don't remember for sure) so it's a good place to spend a day. Also a small lake, but unfortunately it never comes into play, unless you throw REALLY bad.

When I first played this course I thought "Oh, great. Another classic NC course brutally hacked into the woods." But I couldn't complain about the location and there were helpful little signs everywhere to keep you on track.

Since playing some other courses and then this one again, though, my eyes have opened to the promise. It's HARD, is the main thing. I'm not used to such narrow freaking alleys and this course has totally busted my balls and challenged me to alter my game in order to survive. It is time to stop whining and man up.

This course is brand new and needs a ton of work still. There is a massive amount of debris that makes it a bit hectic when you stray from the fairway. I am averaging one tick per round and it FEELS like I'm going to get snakebit every time I pick up my disc. But I haven't seen one yet. #18 leaves you with a bit of a walk back to your car but whatever.

Once this course gets cleaned up, has permanent tees and loses some more trees it will be a really nice little course in the manner of the Cornwallis course or the woods course at Cedar Rock. Except more difficult. I look forward to rising to the challenge.

I also like how the course is so integrated into the existing park. The holes lead you near walking paths, a fishing pond, tennis and volleyball courts, baseball diamonds and a dog park without any "collisions". Pretty clever.

The course is entirely shaded, so when it's 90+ degrees out, like it was today, it's not too terribly unbearable to play a round. (although the humidity will still get you). It's a short course, that looks a little easier than it actually is, every hole is heavily wooded, even #13 which is in an open field! The course starts almost immediately upon entering the park, directly across from the dog park. Park opposite the dog park and hopefully your car will be shaded the whole time you're playing. The park itself is very user friendly, softball fields, dog park, pavilions, fishing pond, restrooms & playground.

As for the course itself, it starts off with a short slight downhill left to right fade with trees lining the right side, easily aceable, end up in the woods and you'll get a 4. This is the case with most of the holes, although the ace runs are not quite obvious, they are there, but you end up in the woods, you're gonna get 4 or more. the first 6 holes are a nice mix of left and right turns that play around the fishing pond and get you over to in between the pond and the softball fields. Hole 7 is the longest on the course (368ft) and has one of the smaller windows to throw through and it plays uphill, so it's probably a little closer to 400, through the woods the whole way. 8 & 9 are nothing to memorable, but #10 was almost stupid it was so tight, it's like throwing down a walking path. #12 was a nice, hard right turn with the basket at the top of the hill 15ft into a field (the first opportunity to not be in the woods). #13 is a fun open field right to left shot over a field of yellow flowers with a 5ft wide window to throw into 200ft away (the window is there, but it literally disappears when you are on the tee pad, you have to walk up 20 ft to see the hole) the basket is 20 ft into the woods. 14-18 are all back in the woods with the basket for 18 being the only time back in a "field" setting, but you're throwing through the woods 200+ ft to get out to the basket.

The signs are simple, but are maybe the most helpful signs I've seen. Every hole has a Tee Sign and at the basket there's a Next Tee sign also. And the underbrush here is very disc friendly, very little ivy/leafy crap for your disc to get tangle in or your legs to pick up poison itchy stuff from, it's mostly pine straw throughout.

The park is very easy to find

No tee pads/natural tee pads. One pad, I think 10, has a tree within follow through disctance and I smacked my hand on it, probably just user error. There's lots of stump/twigs that trip you up pretty good, including 2 separate hidden barb-wire fences, 1 got me, 1 got my buddy. TICKS. no benches, trash cans, or water fountains that I could find. Lastly, I wish the water would have come in to play. You're around it for the first 4 holes or so, but never once throw over it, probably because it's a "fishing pond" and is used regularly.

My biggest gripe about this place is finishing. When you're done with #18 you can see your car on the other side of the dog park, but you have to walk way around the dog park and a clump of trees to get back to your car.

This course is brand spanking new, and I'm sure that in a few months the problems of tee pads and ground clutter tripping me up will probably be gone. Also the addition of benches/trash cans/water will also make this course that much better.

My buddy and I have already talked about making a saturday of Chapel Hill courses and playing this one, Southern Community, then UNC as they are all within 5 minutes of each other. Once the minor flaws are worked out this course will be a 4 for sure.

This is an update since I've played it a few times now. The course has really matured in terms of having realistic shaped fairways. It's still well tight on a few holes, but they're doable now. Length is quite good considering the park but it's mostly on the shorter side. (Don't confuse this for a typical park pitch and putt).

If you like short and challenging, good use of park land and elevation, this course delivers. I love the topography in this area and many holes feature it splendidly with nice big rocks jutting here and there out of the soil.

The course is very nicely maintained (lots of underbrush cleared away now, reducing the threat of disc losing greatly) and pretty clean, the caretakers really seem to be doing their thankless jobs. The flow and navigation is a breeze, ample signage, etc.

Most of the gripes I had about this course (ungodly tight fairways that reward luck over skill) are no more thankfully. The hole variety is still a little lacking, particularly on certain types of holes. For example, there's a bunch of L-shaped holes that bend to the left at an angle that's very daunting for squeezing a standard RHBH hyzer through where a steep FH anhyzer seems to be the best route. Now, I don't mind a challenging, unorthodox line every now and then, but Anderson throws these at you in bunches, a couple coming back to back.

The tees are a little wonky on 16 of the holes, which are wooden frames with cheap putting green material stretched across them. They don't seem like they'll last very long and I remember seeing a tear here and there. The honeycomb tee on #10 and the astroturf tee on #1 are pretty sweet though.

Hole 7, 368', gorgeous hole. That hole is the reason I play disc golf. 368' with a creek in the middle means you tee off from high up and finish high up. A good drive on that hole means you don't have to throw or putt from the valley.

I've scaled back my rating a bit after I've played many more courses and gotten better perspective but that doesn't reflect the fact that I think this course is getting better and better. If you combined the best parts of SoCo and Anderson you'd basically have UNC if that tells you anything. It's a challenging but fun little bugger of a course.

DISCatcher baskets, very good use of signs and directions on signs telling you where to head.

No concrete Tee Boxes, no realistic hole in one opportunities, few birdies. Way too many trees, no ground clearing, lots of stumps and ivy. Tee box placement not well planned on most holes, some have trees impeding back swing. TICKS GALORE!

Disappointing Russell Schwartz design. In one years time could be good course with lots of hard work and numerous trees removed on each hole. Unlike the 2nd review of this course, I experienced little to no elevation change, and I did not keep track, but would guess 13/18 holes are dog leg lefts. Also make sure to park immediately when entering the park, the DGC is to the right and has a print out of hole locations.

It is another DGC in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area, but almost not needed. If you want challenging heavily wooded holes, I would suggest traveling 5 minutes down the road to Southern Community Park.
