Wish I Had Downloaded the DGCR Map! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 10, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Wide open park with a confusing layout

+ The original 9 hole layout features concrete tees and classic DGA signage. The signage indicates multiple baskets on most holes. But some signs and baskets are missing - so that's just a theory

+ I played the original layout as best as I could figure it out, and it features some surprising length for a 9 holer in a park

+ There is an evolving layout here: somebody (maybe the "Luke" of the "Luke's Course" layout on uDisc) has created an 18 hole layout using the 11 existing baskets, installing additional rubber teepads to create the new holes. There's even a "Pro Tees" layout on uDisc but there's no map or distances, so it's really hard to use that one if you're not familiar with the place, or haven't downloaded the map here on dgcoursereview

+ Open fields allow you to air it out

+ Plenty of parking available in several lots

+ Quick to play; good place to practice long, open shots

Cons:

- The original DGA Mach III signage is in poor shape, and several signs are missing. The baskets are old and rusting

- Lots of walkers along the perimeter and people letting dogs run make for frequent pauses in play. I had a moment of dread when an unleashed doberman took off after my brand new disc - luckily he lost interest about halfway to running it down

- Tees without signs are hard to find and because of the multi-basket layout; it's hard to be sure to know which basket you're supposed to be throwing at. Even with the uDisc map I threw at the wrong basket more than once

Other Thoughts:

~ I love to see a simple and old park course getting love and attention. Ashbaugh benefits from obvious efforts to create alternate layouts by installing additional rubber mat tees. Thanks Luke (and whoever helped you)

~ But for the first time visitor, this is a difficult course to navigate. Signs are missing, the new tees are for alternate layouts, shared baskets, uDisc not quite accurate - all make for a confusing experience

~ Alternatively, the best thing you can do is DOWNLOAD THE MAP on this site, and use it to play 9 or 18 on the Luke's Course layout, forgetting about the original 9 holer

~ With time and multiple visits, this place could grow on you. Playing with someone who has local knowledge could make this a fun way to experience an old and outgrown layout. But in the meantime, I recommend downloading the site map, using uDisc, a rangefinder and patience

Fine lil practice course (LOST MY CHAMPION TIE DYE DESTROYER!!!) 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 14, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

***Anyone see my purple/green/clear tie dye Champion Destroyer??? Brand new disc I didn't label yet.....sigh.....should be in field around hole 1/2.

Fine little practice course. Nice park, well kept, green grass. Good alternative to all the sandy shrubby high desert courses.

Cons:

Udisc map a MUST. Teeboxes missing all over the place. And uDisc map is a bit off, some of the holes are actually a lot longer and pretty challenging Pars if you play by what the app says.

Reallyyyy gotta be careful for joggers/dogwalkers. They come through pretty regularly, and can pop out of nowhere right into your speedy hyzer path!!

Other Thoughts:

please hit me up if you see my Destroyer out there!!! 8 1 7 - 3 0 1 - 6 6 5 8
