Other Thoughts:

It is very difficult to write the pros and cons of the course. This course is not like that, it's different. Very different.

Let me start by saying that in general I disdain courses that have short, heavily wooded and narrow fairways. When I arrived at Bad Fredeburg, I didn't expect much from the course. But then something happened. The exotic nature of the course and of Sauerland won me over.

It's a funny feeling when a recreational player like me chooses to put 47 metres - because you go 8 down. Or when you give all you can just to get to basket 32 metres from you because of the uphill. Yet the holes make perfect sense.

Normally I am a fairly typical 70-30 backhand thrower over forehands. However I am not used to throwing steep uphill shots with backhand so the proportions of backhands shots from tee were only about 25 %. Half of tee-offs were with forehand and the rest with overhead shots! This combination, however, was not typical and I saw most people use backhand as they normally would.

There is a clear reason why I'm comparing Bad Fredeburg to Forrest Gump's box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get. But then again you do. Because this is not the kind of course where everything is just normal but you hate the green because the disc might roll off somewhere. Bad rolls are a threat hanging over your head with almost every shot. It is a constant, not an irritating variable.

This brings a sense excitement in every throw you execute. A released excitement with the exhaustion brought by climbing the hills gave me a certain euphoria I have not felt anywhere else.

I had a great time at Bad Fredeburg and I hope that you could experience it, too, but that doesn't mean I'm going to give it any more than two discs (reasonable). I do not know if you will like it, or if most of the people will like it. Because it's so different I don't even know it should be liked! But I did.
