Not a whole lot of courses in south Korea so playing here is almost amazing. That said the challenge of this course is pretty decent. Also it's a full 18 holes that I don't have to set up myself with a travel basket.

First 2 holes were way short, like 150 feet or less. Also, leave your drivers at home because the holes are either short or tight and technical through the trees.

If you are in country and can get to this course, play it.

-Easy access from any military base in Korea; fairly centrally located on the Korean peninsula itself

-many interesting shots...a great variety of left and right finishes as well as some serious shot-shaping required

-Ample, sensible OB adds to the challenge

-A few juicy ace runs...I aced playing here for tags on one of the holes that not too many people ace, but I was close on several others as well

-Easy-to-find once you get to Camp Humphreys...they are also very willing willing to sign on those without DOD access as long as you have a sponsor

-A few holes (8 in particular) there are just no lines. You basically have to throw and hope you miss everything. There was limited space to build this course, so that's why the hole had to go there, but even expert players will hate that hole

-While most of the mandos (and there are a lot of mandos) make sense, there's a couple that seem to be put in place just to have them. I'm not a fan of mandos just for mandos sake.

-Super short course (longest hole is 331 feet) but beginners will get very frustrated. I brought a beginner and he was like 17 over. Just too many obstacles for beginner players.

-Lots of criss-crossing holes (hence the plethora of mando holes) which, again, is due to the limited space available. but would make it very hard to any sort of large event here.

I liked this course, but I certainly didn't love it. I did well my first round, but imploded the second, somehow hitting every tree on the Hill. it's a very "feast or famine" type course. When things go wrong, they go very wrong. It's certainly more challenging then it appears at first blush. They also have a few par 4s, but most people play them as 3's.

it's a good course, and any course in Korea is more than welcome for sure. It's one of the better courses in Korea, as I understand it. I had a good time. The biggest concern is maintenence. Understandably, it is hard to maintain this course...it's expensive and Beacon Hill is out-of-the-way on the base. Hopefully next fiscal year will give them more budget to keep things fit and trim. It's a 3 and a half hour train ride for me to get to the course, so I won't be playing here often, but it is certainly a "must-play" if you're in the country.
