Pros:
-I love courses at schools because it gets students involved in the sport (provided the PE teachers know anything about it). It's also a good influence on the adjacent elementary school which has put up a basic little course for their students.
-This short course uses just about every elevation change and obstacle on the space available. Holes 1, 2, 3, and 9 all play over or near the banks of a creek, which can swell up and run pretty quick after a storm. Every hole except 5 plays up or down in elevation.
-There is actually a course sign!! Not many of the school courses thought to put up a sign designating the starting point or even the name of the course.
-Generally well maintained course, except in the summer. The grass can get pretty high.
-This is also next door to Castle Heights Middle School, where there is another 9 hole course. It's only a short walk making it easy to combine the two into a fun little 18 holer.
Cons:
-The school is making it difficult to play hole one and I wonder if it will even be moved soon. They are building fences around a large portion of the fairway and the creek.
-The school owns a great deal of land that stretches from the school back to the interstate. There are a lot of woods to play in they took the time to do it. They could also have built this behind the baseball field behind the school, which is all wooded. It's a good use of the land they chose, but I wonder if they chose the right piece of land to build the course on.
-The gate that leads to the lower parking lot where the course begins is almost always locked, so you have to drive around. Enter on springdale rd and drive to the lowest parking lot on the left.
