Pros:

Easy to follow, well kept, beautiful natural landscapes. Good course for beginners, wide open, a few tricky holes.

Cons:

The breeze off the river can be challenging.

Worth the trip. 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 29, 2007 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Challenging course with a generous par.
course is pretty open, but not a "see how far you can chuck it" course. With 3 cement tees and great signage this course is one of my favorites.
Course features some elevation changes, water hazards, and well placed foliage. Course flows well and is easy to navigate.

Cons:

small chance of loosing a disc in water hazards, but water is not a major problem. Their are some shots that are pretty close to the road and you have to watch for traffic incase your disc goes off course. Paying to enter the park is a con, but is one worth the travel and entry fee.

Other Thoughts:

Well marked, really nice course. Definately worth a revisit.
we did not have to pay either (we were either too early in the morning or too late in the season)

Buffalo has some stellar courses, all worth the travel, send the family to Niagra Falls, while you treat yourself to a day of great disc golf.

Beautiful Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 4, 2007 Played the course:never

Pros:

Very well maintained, good signage and tees are well marked. Also, "Next Tee" markers on or near baskets are helpful.

Cons:

Not a ton of variety here. Most holes play in the open.

Other Thoughts:

Beaver Island is fun course and definitely one of the better ones in the Buffalo area. The stand out hole for me was #4 which has you throwing down a big hill towards the lake (although there's little danger of actually ending up in the lake). Three or four holes had water that was very much in play and tended to encourage conservative shots due to the proximity to the water and the windy nature of the course.

Beaver Island is only a few miles away from the Canadian border so if you're on your way up there then it's definitely worth a stop. It's a very scenic park with a good disc golf course to boot.

Wind and more wind 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 8, 2007 Played the course:never

Pros:

The course is in near-mint condition. All of the signs and tee markers are present, and all baskets easy to find. Flags atop each basket are very useful, given the wind off the Niagara river. The course is open and mostly easy to play. The park also has popular attractions beyond the disc golf, with a swimming beach and clubhouse located near the 9th hole.

Cons:

The combination of wind and water on a couple of holes serves to limit creativity in shots. The knowledge that a gust of wind can send a driver to the bottom of the lagoon encourages some low, safe boring throws.

Other Thoughts:

It seems to vary from windy to very windy. I found myself putting with my heaviest driver at times in an effort to avoid the effects.
The $7 toll for cars is only collected until ~6PM, and only during the summer high season.

More like a 3.5 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 9, 2007 Played the course:never

Pros:

Nice breeze off the lake kept the course cool.

Cons:

Some holes were too wide open and unimaginative. Ridiculously long walk between two of the holes, cannot recall which numbers, you'll know it if you play it.

Other Thoughts:

Supposedly pay to play, but booth was unmanned upon my visit in May 2007. Close to the interstate leading to/from Canada, if you're driving up/down it is worth the detour.
