Winter or Weekdays are Best

Pros:

A decent layout with a some very good holes along the river, but other holes play through picnic areas, a playground and walking trails.

+ The design stretches itself out to use all available natural features in the park: throwing around wooded areas and a lake, good use of available elevation at one end of the park, and a handful of holes that play right alongside the river

+ Hole #6 is in the middle of several holes playing back and forth across an open field. This one is a standout though: it's only 213' and downhill, but there's a hidden stream running behind the basket. An easy birdie, but risk if you overshoot

+ Hole #8 uses the same stream running behind the basket, but this time it's a 250' dogleg right, with the first part being a shot through a hallway of O.B. woods on the left and tall pines on the right. It's too bad there's a picnic pavilion on the right (you throw past it to make the dogleg)

Cons:

- I don't know how this course has survived all these years and not been pulled due to so many holes intersecting other park activities. It really can't be played if the park is at all busy - maybe nobody plays it?

- A few hole transitions require crossing fairways, and the layout is confusing at the far end of the park. You leave the park at one point to cross over a stream using a street, but then you walk the full length of the next hole, from basket to tee, to continue play. The signage is missing for several holes in this area too - so navigating with uDisc is essential

- Stretching the layout to use the riverfront means a few long transitions. You cross a road a few times. Nothing really bad, the extra walking adds time to your round

Other Thoughts:

~ Old concrete tees, DGA baskets and DGA "sticker" signage. Pretty typical for a town park layout installed 20 years ago. The ground has eroded around the tees (they're adequate length, but now they're "raised")

~ Overall a decent layout with some highlight holes, but it's unplayable if there's much other activity in the park. I was lucky enough to play it on a rainy Monday while bagging a handful of courses in the area. Not a destination by any means, but a good play, if you can time it right

Pros:

Well maintained course in a beautiful park. Pars are fair to generous, and lots of shade on a hot, sticky day, like the one I had.

Cons:

I didn't care for often playing across walking paths and the tee shot across a road. (Nice hole, though, with a downhill bomb to a pin in front of the pond.) One hole runs past the bandstand with the walking path coming from behind. Keep an eye out for walkers! A couple of holes run fairly close to (or over) picnic areas. Someone's lunching or Cornhole game may mean skipping holes.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, this is a nice setting, but not a lot of various shots needed. I'll confess that the river got in my head, and I shanked/pulled shots
way out of position for fear of watching plastic sink.
I'm glad I played it, but won't hurry back.

Pros:

Couple of really nice holes. #10 I call it the Charlie Brown kite/disc eating hole as the large tree across the road from your tee pad is going to eat your disc and spit it out. #16 as the shot across the water run off area is a challenge even without the multi hundred year old sycamore branch blocking elevated throws. I lost a disc on this one.

Makes maximal use of the space given. Low lying tree branches force you to work on low to ground shots. Very picturesque, especially the holes near the Susquehanna river...this is definitely a course I will replay in the fall.

Park maintenance keeps everything in good shape, grass is like walking in your back yard.

Cons:

There can be a lot of distance between one hole and the next. but considering what they have to work with, not too bad.

Geese on 10 and 11...they don't like to move, but its their lake too. However lots of droppings, do you really want to get them on your discs, yuck.

Park can be pretty busy, some of the walking paths go threw playing area.

No markers on pads (I am sure they are probably working on this)

Other Thoughts:

If you come in the summer, bring a swim suit...public swimming pool near holes 11 and 12. Six bucks a head to get in.

Make sure to take the map for the course from this site as you will need it to find where each next hole starts.
