Short 9-hole course 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 22, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Great use of available space
- Good place to practice approach and placement shots
- Baskets were in great condition. Powder coated blue for easy visibility.
- Natural tees are usable and well marked

Cons:

- Flow of the course reflects what I assume was originally 5 holes and expanded to 9. It would make more sense to play 1-3,7, 6, 4, 5, 8, 9. Still, the flow wouldn't be perfect, but slightly better. According to the 2014 map here, that's close to how it plays, but not how the holes are marked on site.
- Plays past a baseball backstop. Not being local to me, I'm assuming it's seldom used, but could cause a conflict of activities.
- It took a little looking around to find hole 4. The walk to 4 that we were able to find potentially interferes with play on 6.

Other Thoughts:

This is a nice little park that sits in a subdivision of Plover. We stopped to play to break up some travel through the area. If you're coming into the area on Hwy 39 or County HWY B, it's just a few minutes off your route.

It's very short, so definitely grab your pitch and putt discs. The first few holes require the ability to hit a tight line through some short tree / brushy areas. Most of the rest of the holes are much more open.

1- Basket lies to the left of the fairway. Short shot, but unless you go over the trees, you'll have to hit your line to lay up.

2 - Basket is more left this time. but same type of fairway as #1.

3 - Straight through the wooded area, back the opposite direction from #2. A little longer, this time.

4 - Walk out of the woods to the North end of the park. 4 tees from near the trees, around a large tree, with the basket to the right.

5 - Straight along the NW edge of the park. Open shot.

6 - Plays back into the woods. There's a couple gaps you can hit to get to the basket without going over the top.

7 - Plays back into the field, another open shot.

8 - You're on the West edge of the park again. Open shot, but tight if you're throwing rhbh.

9- Open shot back to the South edge of the trees. The basket is maybe 10-15' inside of the treeline. Open shot to get there, just hit your gap to lay up.

Bluebirds do not sing the blues 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 14, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

1) Beginner friendly . . . almost nowhere to lose a disc.

2) Nice variety between the three holes in the prairie area with some trees to contend with . . . and also the 2 open but longer holes to create some challenge by use of distance.

3) Very quiet area removed from town that would definitely entice a lot of the neighborhood people to perhaps give disc golf a try.

4) Tee posts that mark the tee areas.

5) Directional posts to get from one hole to the next when not obvious.

Cons:

1) Totally flat.

2) Challenge is at a minimum for skilled players making this a course I will likely not return to . . . except in an emergency.

3) Tees are already wore out and will only get worse due to compaction.

Other Thoughts:

All in all . . . I do not expect a lot of people to come to this course but if you take it for what it is it is a decent course actually. It fits the beginner friendly status to a T, it has a little variety, and will most definitely always be a quiet place to get in some practice.
