Pros:

Caledonia High School DGC is a 9-holer that plays around and across several athletic fields behind the school. The athletic fields have tall grass around them which can come into play on many of the holes. The course starts at a gap in the fence near the school's service drive - no signage so see the map uploaded here and the exact course location pin.

The nine baskets are DISCatchers. The yellow bands have faded from sun exposure, but the baskets are all in good shape and the hole numbers are clearly visible.

There are some decent length holes here for this type of course. I think the longest hole is #4 which is probably about 350'. I think all holes are at least in the 175'-200' range.

Cons:

Basically all of the cons you would expect for a course like this...

Most holes are flat and have no obstacles between tee and basket.

No tee pads or tee signs - just tee off from somewhere near the previous basket.

No map or kiosk. Use the map uploaded here - it is well done and made navigation a breeze.

Many holes would be unplayable if the athletic fields are being used. Even when there aren't any sports going on, there are some walking trails winding around the edges of the fields that people could be using. No blind throws so it's on the DG'er to ensure safety.

The tall grass around the outside of the fields wasn't too thick when I played in June, but later in the summer I could see it potentially being thick enough to make finding a disc difficult.

Other Thoughts:

Hole 3 has a narrow straight fairway with the tall grass on both sides. It's probably 200' or so. For any DG'ers beyond recreational level, this may be the most interesting hole on the course. For the rec level players and students this course is probably intended for, it may present the greatest chance of having to search for a disc. I threw a nice RHBH hyzer over the grass to the right and thought for one crazy moment that I aced the hole, but I overshot by a few feet.

Some of the holes here are probably a little long for students.

I had a good time playing the course by myself on a Saturday with few other people around, but I doubt I will be back. There are lots of better options in the area.
