Nice little camp course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 3, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a nice short, camp course. A good learners course or a place to work on your midrange game. Ace run potential and birdies are easily achieved here. There is a map in the Visitors Center.
Nice DGA baskets. The grounds were well kept on my visit. Nice and quiet round. Holes 3-7 are lightly/moderately wooded.
My favorite holes were #1 and #3. #1 was an elevated short hole that you will want to run for that ACE. #3 was a nice little tunnel type shot.

Cons:

Upon my visit they were doing construction on #4's fairway. Also because of some construction I couldn't find #5's tee box, so I threw from where I thought it was supposed to be. On the left hand side of #3's fairway there was a horseshoe pit and a volleyball court. This would only be a con if there were campers here, and odds are you wouldn't be playing during that time anyway.
Navigation can be tricky at times so look for the brown wooden arrows on the trees to point you in the right direction.
Tees are mixed, some have stone markers and some are natural. Others are a wooden box dug in the ground with wood chips for footing. This is just a consistency thing. I would like to see it remain consistent all the way through is all.

Other Thoughts:

Being as this is a camp style course this course works fine for younger kids or people that are just starting out. For a more seasoned player they will most likely be bored here. There are some lines to hit and most of the holes are reachable in 1, leaving you with a birdie opportunity. Not a must play but a great place to improve your short game or to introduce a young player to the sport. If you need a course with more distance in the Ark City area, I would suggest Camp Quaker Haven across the river.

Decent Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 8, 2003 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

A nice quick play. Decent Signage to guide you.

Cons:

Not the most fun or challenging course. A little bit difficult to navigate.

Other Thoughts:

I would also recommend making the trip to Winfield over this one. Is good for trying something different, but not that much of challenge or very pretty. Good for practice I suppose.

Never played when there were others on it, so always able to create your own course as you go if you want to make it a bit different.
