This course is nothing like Wellspring. It's open, and longer - it's classy and classic. It an oldie and a goldie as it was establish in 1984 and at that time was the 5th course ever built in NC.
This is a course you can really crank your drives. However, none of the holes are a gimmie and there's several holes that you can get into some major trouble, should you shank it. The great thing is if you do shank it, recovering is very doable. It's a fair course that rewards your good drives and approach shots.
The course is clean and mowed frequently. There are benches and trash cans on just about every hole.
The terrain is beautiful rolling hills, valleys and a small creek through the center of the course (casual water). It covers about 11 acres.
There's a good variety of different hole placements along with one mando and a unique window shot through some trees. There's two tees on every hole, which makes it play from short to really long. There are also two baskets positions for each hole. Both Cedarock and Wellsprings courses have installed all new disCatchers baskets (gotta love that!). The tee signs are new as well and the graphics are clear and well designed which allows the course to be easily navigated!

No course is perfect - and this course has had plenty of time to be tweeted. The tweaks I would recommend at this time would be to extend a few of the tee pads. Some are fine but, a number need minor repair as well.

This course has stood the test of time and remains one of the better courses in North Carolina. Having an additional really nice woodland course in the same park makes it a Disc Golf Mecca!

32 years old, Cedarock is still the course to play. With big, big sky and green, green grass, Cedarock is wide, wide open as a golf course should be and completely convertible for alternate layouts. (Red/Blue and White/Gold) Both configurations will test you on distance and direction, as Bob and Carlton employed the limited elevation differentials as well as the trees and tree lines to utmost utilization. For recreational or intermediate players, Cedarock Red and White will let you break par and even get aces, but can also be stern taskmistresses if taken for granted. For pros and advanced ams, the Blue and Gold tees will allow for driving for show to putt for dough.
With forested, bordering Wellspring all but adjoining this course, Cedarock Park remains a great disc golf destination, though it might no longer be #1, as it was in the late 80's and early 90's. The courses are laid out so that an easy, well flowing, half and half round of nine holes on each course can be enjoyed for an interesting, more diverse 18. (CR 1, 2, 3, 8, WS 16, 17, 3, 4, 7, 10, 13, 14, 15, CR 9. 10, 16, 17, 18)
Cedarock Park is mostly a nature park of approximately 600 acres, offering miles of hiking and horseback riding trails, primitive camping, kayak rentals, lake fishing, picnic shelters, playground, open air half court basketball, beach volleyball and the historic farm, dating back to the mid 18th century...and the ropes course might still be in place. And there is appropriate and available land for the possible permanent placement of the presently extinct temporary tournament Rock Creek course, to accompany the supposedly planned green level, novice nine holer to be built on some portion of the recently acquired couple of hundred acres that were added to the long standing 414 acres.
Amenities are aplenty with adequate signage, nearby rest rooms, as well as snacks and beverages in the office building. Cedarock and Wellspring may be the best benched courses in existance, though I think, by and large, the recently installed, backless metal benches are inferior to the hand hewn wooden benches with backs that were produced and placed by the original players' association when the courses were new.
The park is so big and the course is placed so that there is almost no interacton with other activity areas. You may occasionaly encounter horseback riders. Give them the right of way, as horses are generally stupid, horse people are often intoxicated and the horse trails were there first.

May be too open and easy for pros and advanced ams in the original short pins positions, but the gold layout will test the best of the best, especially if you rate it as a straight par 3, as we did for over 20 years. Some of the posted pars on the nice new tee signs seem arbitrarily easy for pro and advanced players and out of line with PDGA guidelines. There shuld be far fewer Par 4's on the Blue and Gold layouts. Some of the holes could use more than just the one tee sign, as the tees are a ways apart. Tee pad color assignment needs correction on Hole 14, so that it would be in line with the three pad correctness of Holes 7 and 18. 15 and 18 White should both definitely be rated as Par 4's here on the site and on the signs and cards, for a better overall par schematic of 58..
Most of the tee pads are as old as the course. At 6' by 3', many contemporary players consider them too small, but there is adequate, level, step-up/run-up area behind each one.

It was on this course, with only my pre-patent number, dirt brown Aero that I parked it on the original number 5, which teed from what is now the #5 blue pad and went to a now extinct green, that made me think out loud that maybe I could play this sport without stinking it up.

It is my favorite course i have played. Its a generally wide open course, Perfect for seeing the full flight of the disc without the worry of trees to impede the disc. It has clearly marked tees and baskets. The signs on each tee designate which pad to use, where the basket is, the distance to each basket from each pad, and where the next hole is in relation to the basket. A truly awesome course that anyone can enjoy.

Some of the teepads are small, limiting the run up distance.

Nice Baskets. Concrete pads. Alternate Pin and Tee Locations. Challenging gaps on off the tee and Good Pin Placements. Course Flows from hole to hole with good options for different kinds of shots. Long Tees challenged my distance an putting. Hard to put a finger on a favorite hole. Liked Hole #5 uphill hyzer with good distance can get a putt for two, but well protected off the tee the shot has to be the right shape to get all the way to the hole.

Could use a couple next tee signs. Hard to paint baskets with alternate pin positions. Tournament OB may take care, just to Tighten up some of the landing areas. A couple holes play near each other.

with 36 holes in the park this is a great destination for disc golf. I really enjoyed my afternoon and would make it a point to come back. Personally liked Cedar Rock better than Wellspring, but both were a lot of fun.

There are vast stretches of open grass fairways, covering 10 acres of rolling countryside, including nice elevation changes, lots of trees, and a creek. The mixture of terrain allows for uphill, downhill, direct, banking, and tight shots on goal. This is a beautiful, serene course which offers challenges for players of all levels.

While playing the course with two other friends of mine, we quickly discovered that navigating the course was much more challenging than anticipated. We did not have the luxury of having a map on hand, so we often found ourselves uncertain of which direction the next tee would be.

I highly suggest downloading and printing out a map from their website (http://www.alamance-nc.com/Al...k/Disc+Golf),or playing this course with a friend that has played it at least once.

This is one of the most beautiful courses in the whole state of North Carolina! With the best grassy meadows, it is also the best course for rollers in the state. There are still enough trees to add character and challenge, though. With four layouts (Am-Short, Am-Long, Pro-Short, and Pro-Long) there is enough variety to satisfy every player and every mood. The course uses a creative combination of long basket placements and long tees to create these four layouts. Each month the baskets are alternated between Short and Long. Every hole has a Pro tee pad and 5 holes have separate Am-Long (yellow) tee pads.
In the Pro-Long layout the big arms can experience the thrill of watching their discs rip in long flights over the beautiful grassy meadows. Hole 20, 633 ft. in the Pro-Long layout, allows long open flights over the grassy field. You'll be sorry to be finishing your round as you walk up to a basket guarded by trees. For a contrast in venue you'll can then head over to the wooded Wellspring course right next door. You could have a fulfilling day of 4 rounds by alternating between the two courses and alternating between the short and long tees. In my opinion, this is one of the best courses in NC and it's one of my top favorites of all the courses I've played. Don't miss it if you have the chance to play it!

The multiplicity of layouts and tees can be confusing, and it may take a while to figure out. Having a course map is essential to figure out which tees you should be playing from. Note that 6 holes don't have long basket positions. Unfortunately they don't have any explanations posted on the course bulletin board.

The Short course (Pro and Am) is played when the baskets are in the short positions. The Long course is played when the baskets are in the long positions.

Matters of opinion:
In the Am-Short layout lower rated players will enjoy that the course is not too difficult, especially since it is mostly open. There are still challenging holes, though, especially 17-20.
On the Pro-Long layout longer throwers and higher level players will appreciate the length and the challenge. This layout really lets you air out some shots.
