Could be one of the best, but feel they don't want it to be drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 27, 2022 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

I've been coming to Browns Farm for nearly 20 years now and it is one of my absolute favorite places to play disc golf at. The course is situated on a beautiful family farm that has some truly amazing views and just an overall peaceful setting. The course itself is excellent also. There are wide open holes, tight wooded holes, left curves, right curves, downhills, everything you need to make an amazing course. The holes have evolved slightly over the years with pins and tees getting longer and other holes changing completely. But the one constant remains, and that is the fun factor.

Cons:

I feel like Browns Farm could be a top 20 course in the world, except they really don't want it to be. If that makes sense?? The tee pads are horrendous and some of the worst you will play on any course. The tee signs are non-existent. There are tree limbs hanging in flight lines, that they apparently really like. It's not a constant throughout, but a pole saw on a few trees would make these holes even better. Some proper tee pads would make things so much safer and more enjoyable here also. They really are horrendous when it gets wet, and the ones that had carpet are totally shot and bunched up and ripped.

but.....I still love it. I just wish they realized the potential they had to make this a true destination with the available barn and cabin which could be rented also.

Other Thoughts:

Browns Farm is a special place. I've had some of the best experiences playing here. I always stop by when I'm nearby. Even some of my dogs ashes on the course because she loved it so much also.

If you are looking for a disc golf destination away from civilization on a beautiful farm, this is the place to come.

There is a porta potty on site and it's $5 to play. There are course maps and loner discs available also.

Loved the Basket Placements 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 28, 2012 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

- wide variety of holes- requires hyzer and anhyzer throws, hole 2 requires low and straight shot between two rows of trees
- amazing scenery
- many unique "signature" holes #6, #9, #12, #17, #18 to make sure the course never gets boring
- three well marked tees for each hole to allow for all level players. Hole 9 even has an alternative shorter basket for those who don't want to throw 652 feet and over a pond
- some long holes for those who want to drive as well as many shorter holes that require more accuracy
- course flow is very good for the most part
- excellent use of ravine and brook running through course
- good mix of wooded and open holes although the course leans toward wooded
- a pro shop with some new discs for sale. Also you can borrow discs on honor system to play the course
- out in the middle of nowhere so it isn't crowded(also a con because I have to drive so far to get there)
- there are numerous directional signs to lead you to the next tee and the tees themselves are marked with the hole number

Cons:

- no signs at the tees to show you where the basket is which can be a problem because the holes are long and you cant see the baskets
- no tee pads which would be helpful especially on muddy hills

Other Thoughts:

This course has many unique holes and was very fun for me to play. The course is very challenging and might take some time to play a round. I thoroughly enjoy this course but can't give it a 5 without good signs at the holes

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 10, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

Loved the tight fairways and the different terrain. It was also quiet and had some unbelievable scenery.

Cons:

Needs to have some tee signs or better marking's to get to the next hole. A scorecard would have been great to see what par was and how long the holes were.

Other Thoughts:

I must say that I am honored to have played this course and look forward to being able to go back and play this course again.

Wow 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Spread out, laid out with all skill levels in mind.

Cons:

Numbers and markers could use an upgrade.
Score card with distance and pars would have been nice.

Other Thoughts:

It was an honor to play this private course I would hope to have the chance to play again. It was so cool to have 18 holes to ourselves. Thanks again

A Gem In South Dayton 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 18, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Mixed woods and open holes play over a lot of elavation. Hole 9 is my favorite hole to date. Risk and reward are a big part of playing this course. The different tee's really change the course. This is the only course I've played in NY so far that I would say is a must play

Cons:

Natural teepads and some poor baskets keep this from being my first 5 rating.

Other Thoughts:

The Beachwood Classic is a great tourney held on this course every year, check out nrdg.net

Excellent Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 19, 2008 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Challenging. Lot's of variety. Quiet. Multiple tees.

Cons:

middle of nowhere, but it's sort of like a disc golf oasis in the middle of nowhere.

Other Thoughts:

A few holes make use of open fields, and lot's of heavily wooded holes. I haven't played the gold tee's (not good enough yet!) but they look incredibly challenging and fun to play. Very creative and varied holes, bring all tricks. Lot's of up and down terrain. It's a private course, but not to hard to make friends with the owner, and you can camp on site (it's a farm).
