I really liked it alot 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 8, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice wide open playing field.
Cement pads.
Not much worry of losing a disc.
Fairly easy to find the next Tee pad.
Just enough obstacles to make it interesting.
Nice and quiet.
Beautiful area.
Nice parking lot.

Cons:

Probably my only complaint is that it's super hard to see where the baskets are because they basically are all galvanized grey, no color to stand out. You can look right at it and not see it. They really need some color or something, especially since many of the holes are fairly long or well hidden behind obstacles.
Oh, and I only saw 2 red and 1 blue marker the entire course and I was really looking for them. If you're going to show them on each sign then they should be clearly visible so people could use them if they wish.

Other Thoughts:

I LOVED this park! It was quiet and peaceful and just a pleasure to play through. The length of most (minus a few) holes was just perfect for really airing it out. I like the woods courses a lot but this was refreshing to only contend with a few trees or obstacles and just let it fly. It gave me a chance to try out some of my newer drivers and see what they do. I probably enjoyed the front 9 a bit more than the back 9 and could see myself playing the front 9 twice through sometimes. Though I didn't like 900' hole 11 I can see where a big arm would. That's where I would have liked to see the red and blue clearly marked. If no other hole, at least mark that one. This course is now one of my top 5 courses and I can't wait to play it again.

I love it! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 12, 2000 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

I just love this course. Beautiful property. Unique vanity style obsticles. Gorgeous little sculpded fenced natural obsticles. Very beautiful water shots with great design around it. Nicely manacured fairways. Smoke shack silo is super cool. Course design works with wind stream.

Cons:

Possible mesquito action. The super long basket is a little boring. Privacy may be an issue.

Other Thoughts:

Just wonderful!

Pros:

Concrete pads are real nice Wide open light trees plays more like an actual golf course, great for all levels of skill and very forgiving if u have a bad day, multiple tees make great for kids or beginers, very pretty course during full foliage

Cons:

liter is a problem on a few holes

Other Thoughts:

nicely cut fairways, well kept overall, just a fun time, give u many shot options to test out and play with, good for learning and praticing new shots or disc, overall one of the better corses in rochester in my mind

Bring your arm! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 9, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Being a dedicated course is great. The fairways are beautifully manicured, with sawgrass for the rough, making it worthwhile to stay on the short stuff. BIG course with many long distance holes. 11 is over 900 ft..... And slightly uphill. The facilities are great, there's concrete at every tee, and the upkeep is amazing. Obstacles are well placed, making for some challenging long throws. LOVE the inverted "bunkers"! Really one of the nicer Rochester courses, and host of the 1999 Worlds. This is the course than ended Climo's streak!

Cons:

The tall grass does make it tricky to find your disc if it ends up in the rough, so watch your disc all the way to the ground. If you're looking for any tight/wooded holes, you will be disappointed.

Other Thoughts:

The majority of the holes are pretty long, but there are a few birdie/ace holes mixed in, giving the course great variety. Really a gorgeous course all around. It's just as nice as any ball course, but luckily has baskets instead of holes. If you're in the area, you owe it to yourself to play this one!

Best one yet! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 29, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Each hole is clearly labeled; so no guessing where to go next. Grounds are kept up nice. I actually felt like i was on a golf course. There's a few very long holes and some good natural obstacles; tons of trees and high brush along with defined fairways and rough. This is the nicest course i have been to so far!

Cons:

Honestly none. I have been enjoying heavily wooded courses lately which this is not at all but was still a great course to play on.

Other Thoughts:

If you haven't been here yet you should definately check it out, you will not be dissappointed.

Can't wait to get back 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 30, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This was the course that I started playing on, and it still stands up to any other local course. This place really simulates the "real" golf course environment, complete with some raised tees and greens, lots of un-mowed "rough" and the best variety around. The concrete teepads makes my 4 into a 4.5.

UPDATE: Played a few Rochester rounds this weekend and this course is REALLY nice now. The signs are great and I really like the illustrated full course signs.

Cons:

The bugs can get REALLY nasty in mid-summer. Also, there's a few places where you can easily lose a disc in high grass/nasty brush.

UPDATE: Seems that this course can get rather crowded these days.

Other Thoughts:

I took the game for granted when I was playing rounds weekly here. I'd kill to be 10 minutes away from this place like I used to be.

Pros:

Perfectly mowed course. No Dogs. No strollers. JUST DISC!!! Haven't been out to the Farm in few years. The old building was gone. New parking lot. Concrete pads( no ruts-AWESOME)

Cons:

It does get swampy. But I ususually waited until 4th Julyish to start playing. Dry Spring you can play earlier.

Other Thoughts:

Papier-mâche tree gone. STill have the tin shed and old windmill. Absolutley love this course. Ellison was my 1st but this is my fave after that silly redesign at Elllison.

Destination Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 25, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

"Immaculate" is the first word that comes to mind. Beautiful golf-course setting with manicured fairways and great scenery. Wood chip bunkers, a couple murky ponds, a stream, and some good old-fashioned woodsy rough can come into play if you're not careful. A variety of pine and deciduous trees also dot the landscape in strategic spots.

Course flow and the play of each hole are well thought out, rewarding good throws and punishing bad (although usually not too severely.)

A big arm will definitely help here, but smart upshots and good putting are probably more important. Most baskets are either elevated or guarded by trees and/or other hazards.

Freshly installed concrete pads are a nice bonus.

The locals must take a lot of pride in this course, as I saw no garbage cans yet hardly any litter. It was also nice to be in a setting almost entirely geared towards disc golf. No close traffic, no loud parties at park shelters nearby, no dog walkers or oblivious park zombies wandering around fairways.

Cons:

Ladies' tees are tough to find; my wife guessed where to throw from on a few holes.

Other Thoughts:

Definitely worth the trip. I would gladly pay to play at a course like Chili.

One of a kind 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 10, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

A very unique links style course that highly resembles a real golf course with mowed fairways and tee boxes. Practice basket near parking lot. Three sets of tees on each hole. Great mix of distance from really short deuceable holes to a monster 911' hole. Along with some really unique obstacles/basket locations.

Cons:

Be prepared to play in the wind, even on a relatively calm day the wind will mess with your shots. Unmowed grass off the fairway gets pretty tall and will eat your disc if you don't keep a really good eye on it. A few swampy areas make disc retrieval not so fun.

Other Thoughts:

I call this the best course in the Rochester area due to its one of a kind feel. Bring your distance drivers and big arm, but don't forget your accuracy either.

Just like a golf course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 16, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Amazingly manacured fairways with roughs and everything.
- Moderate amount of trees, making for the necesity of a good drive, otherwise you're going to get stuck behind I pine (as I did many times).
- A lot of long holes which most courses tend to skip out on so they can fit more holes into a smaller area.

Cons:

- No concrete tee pads which make it hard for me to get a good release.
- The unmanacured parts of the course are very overgrown and could use some trimming.
- Very hard to navigate alone.

Other Thoughts:

Upon arrival I was a little sceptical because the parking lot was under construction, but after walking around the course a little bit I could tell that it was going to be a nice course. It is set up like a links style golf course and is one of the best courses I have played and I would recommend it to anyone in the Rochester, or even New York, area.

I have taken many first time players here and with the golf course like atmosphere and not a ton of obsticals they were hooked.

Baker my Baby!! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 20, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

If you've got an arm then you'll love this course. I was blessed to live nearby for 5 years. The ideal time to play this course is in the spring or summer. When the tall grass is as tall as yourself, and the fairways are perfectly mowed. Very demanding fairways. This course may be wide open treewise but you definately dont want to find yourself off the fairways. This is a big arm course. accuracy will help but you need to be able to throw at least 300< to truly appreciate this course. It has 2 holes over 800 feet and a couple more over 600'. It is beautiful however, old farm fencings, an antique windmill, a small silo, and creeks on a few holes. Also it is usually fairly empty even in the busy seasons as there is no local club that exclusively takes care of it (but the township does).

Cons:

If your specialty is short and accurate not you cup-o-tea but an amazing course still. There is no local club that maintains it, but the township does an amazing job!!

Other Thoughts:

Many people think that Ellsion park is sooo much better. I lived here for seven years and i'll say. Bakers farm is every bit as good (better in my opinion, if you've got an arm), but the club for Ellison is much more active & greater!

Disc Golf Paradise 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 3, 2007 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course is absolutely fabulous!!! It is terrific setting for DG, providing a unique style. The layout makes very good use of the land. It flows very well from one hole to the next. There is a terrific variety of hole length, including one monster over 900' from the long tees to as short as just under 200'! Baker Farm is challenging in its own way, charming, and very fun to play!!!!!

It is out in the middle of nowhere and there was nobody else on the course when I played it- very peaceful and serene.

Defined lush fairways separated by tall grass, and obstacles such as a creek, windmill, and silo make this course stand out from other woods or park courses I have played- it is a farm!

Cons:

The parking area was a little uninviting and the driveway was tough to find as your can't really see the course from the road.

Some people might have a problem with the natural tees, but this course didn't seem to get a lot of traffic for some reason, and the natural pads were in pretty good shape. I feel the natural tees actually ADD to the overall effect of this course!

*Update- the course now has concrete tees.

The markers in the ground can be hard to find as they are almost flush with the grass.

Other Thoughts:

A must play if you are anywhere near Rochester (which, as a bonus, is not too far from Niagara Falls!) Rochester has several quality courses and makes for a good disc golf desintation.

This is personally one of my favorite DG courses (not the hardest, but the most memorable). Once your round begins you forget about anything else.

A true highlight! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 6, 2007 Played the course:never

Pros:

The most unique disc golf layout I have ever seen. Long, short, hyzer, anhyzer, silos?, windmill??!!. Yep. This course truly has it all.

Cons:

No woods holes...but I don't really care about that anyway.

Other Thoughts:

Once we found this course, it was 3 hours of great times. My buddies and I traveled to Rochester from Nashville, and this course was a consensus enjoyment. One of my buddies through an absolute laser into the windmill. But it stayed up. We were the only ones there at the time we played and it was like our own disc golf heaven.

TOP 3 in Rocester Area 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 18, 2007 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Course gives an opportunity to let loose with a variety of shots and constent changes are made to the course to prevent monotony.
The course starts out with an elevated tee pad to get you excited at the begining of the game.
It's very nice that the course is exclusively a disc golf course, no worries about stepping poo or having a dog run off with your disc like at Ellison.
Course features some finess holes and room to practice you long drives. including a 900 foot bomb for those of you wanting to air out your favorite putter.
Tounament quality course that is well manicured.

Cons:

There is a small chance for disc loss. The course is relatively open which seems beginner friendly, but a 900 foot hole is never a beginner hole. This course favors the big arms, if you can't throw 300 feet consistently then the course won't play the same.

Other Thoughts:

remember to sign the notebook.
Clearly a memorable course with several other great courses in the area, worth a weekend trip.
