Dusty & Challenging Intermediate Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 3, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Easy to find all the holes. It's pretty out there. It's harder than it looks, so the holes are pretty well designed. Conveniently located near town.

Cons:

It's really dusty out there. But that's not it's fault. It should have alternative tee-pad or basket placements for additional challenges.

Other Thoughts:

I really like this course... I'm always coming back and finding it challenging and fun to play. The people I've met out there are always really nice, too. Small towns are so great, really. :)

Good variety 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 1, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Really good layout and variety overall...
Lots of "scoreable" holes.
Decent shade while playing.
Quiet area...

Cons:

Difficult to navigate the first couple of times.
No garbage cans on the course.
No elevation changes (next to a riverbed).
Boring final hole.

Other Thoughts:

I've played here several times over the past couple of years while visiting Dead Horse Park and it is a decent layout in a small space. Nice people around and a lot of fun shots!
Play it if you are near the area!

Loved it! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 3, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Tee pads, signs, and signs to next tee pad on every hole. Mulch pathways through the sand/dirt help to direct to next tee pad. Well thought/laid out course. Some benches and bag hooks.

Cons:

Signs are faded and hard to read where the pin positions are. (Had to re-tee on two holes because the basket could not be seen from tee pad and the signs were so faded I had to guess; guessed incorrectly, thus the re-tee.) Only some benches and bag hooks. It is extremely dry, hot, and dusty, so more benches and hooks would be beneficial. Only one (that I can remember) hole had garbage receptacle, but there may have been two.

Other Thoughts:

Found some ground bees near some of the tee pads. Although they didn't come out, they could. Also, saw bunches of ant hills that may need to be addressed soon. Overall, the course was wonderful and well laid out. See the cons for why this course is not a 5/5.

Beautiful and challenging 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 11, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-Huge amount of variety in scenery and
shot types from hole to hole. Some are wide open, but most are snaking through trees.
-You will need to use a variety of discs for all the different shots this challenging course can present.
-All the tee pads are now either rubber or cement.
-Multiple pin locations offer variety for the regular players
-There is a practice basket next to the parking lot before hole #1. Great way to warm up with out being in the way.
-Well kept grounds but still feels natural.
-Free parking and play

Cons:

-Navigation from a couple of the holes can be a little confusing your first time here.

Other Thoughts:

-A weekly league of guys ranging from pros to beginners, play here regularly and make you feel very welcome.

Great Course-- 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 11, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

The course is set in a Riparian area by the Verde River and is extremely beautiful. Walking the course is like taking a a nature walk at at a National Park.
You have 18 baksets, a significant upgrade from the 9 which used to be there.
There are many varied shots to be made. It's a very nice change from all the courses in Phoenix because you have a lot of trees to deal with and there is SHADE (wow what a concept!)
The designers did a terriffic job including this course in an existing park without intruding on any of the other areas in the park.

Cons:

My first time at this course I bemoaned the tee pads. Well, I just went back yesterday and they have a mix of concrete pads (4 or 5 tees) and rubber mats. These are all such a big improvement over the old tees. I can not stress enough how much more fun this makes this course.
Now this course doesn't really have cons--maybe just a little bit of dirt--but if you can't take a little dirt--DON'T DISC!!

Other Thoughts:

I thoroughly enjoyed playing this course and look forward to doing so again.
This is a course I plan on making the hour and half journey to play again. Great job on keeping up improvements Cottonwood!!
If you find yourself in the Cottonwood area do yourself a favor and play this course.
