Pros:
-- Tee pads. They are 6x12 concrete on every hole.
-- DISCatcher baskets. They are showing signs of age but still catch well.
-- Navigation is mostly good. The transition from 2-3 is the only one that is iffy. After 2, follow the walking path across the bridge and go left and up the hill to 3.
-- Elevation (although not huge) is well used. Three and six throw downhill; five throws uphill. The 8 basket sits on the edge of a hill; and the 9 fairway has a large hill on the left side.
-- Water is in play on holes 2, 3, 7, 8 and 9. It's 20-25 wide and about 15 feet down to generally shallow water. If you can traverse the steep banks, retrieving a wet disc shouldn't be difficult. On 2 (405 feet), you've got an open fairway, but you've got water right and an OB sidewalk left. You also have an inlet from the creek about 300 feet from the tee. Three (362 feet) has you throwing slightly downhill with the creek close left and tree/bushes guarding the approach on the right side of the basket. Holes 7-9 all play with the creek right of an open fairway.
-- Restrooms at parking lot.
Cons:
-- No map on site.
-- No tee signs. You've got tall, yellow metal poles with hole number. That's it.
-- No disc golf specific seating, but No. 1 has a picnic table next to the tee; five has a bench on the walking path at the tee; six has a pavilion near the tee.
-- Hole 5 has some danger. A picnic table just short and right of the basket is definitely an issue as is a walking path not far behind the basket.
Other Thoughts:
-- Course starts with the easiest and shortest hole (132 feet). There are trees to navigate, but there is no way any experienced player will be happy with a 3. Then you get to the longest (405) and most-difficult hole.
-- As a low intermediate player, I expect to shoot under par but never do. This isn't any kind of destination course, but it serves its purpose to allow for a relaxed round with some excellent birdie chances. It also is a great alternative when nearby 18-hole courses (Audubon, Paschall) are too crowded or wet.
-- The walk from 7 to 8 has you right next to a major road with no space between the sidewalk and the road. A similar walk is required from 9 to 1.
-- Maintenance is likely a mixed bag. Holes 1-7 play in a part of the park with a walking path and other activities and seems to get mowed regularly. Holes 8-9 don't have any other activities, and don't seem to get much attention.
-- Other than the water, disc loss potential is low.
