Strong Argument for Best Public Course in NC 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 28, 2020 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

22 holes with multiple tees.
Tons of different shots - hyzers, anhyzers, 200', 750', wooded, wide open, uphill, downhill - this course has literally everything.
The second water, hole 9, is a simply beautiful shot 225' over a pond and slightly down hill into a fairly open field that will force you to take one of three lanes to the basket. You (and everyone else) will want a picture bombing it off the teepad, it is awesome.
Fusion holes are a relatively new concept that make the course even more difficult for those who seek a challenge. The idea of the fusion holes is to combine two already existing par 3s to create a much longer par 4. For example, you can tee off on a specially designated tee pad beside 10's regular tee pad and play a different fairway to 11's basket.
This is a championship level course, plain and simple. I would not be surprised to see A tiers here in the future.

Cons:

There is a ton of parking but it is still not enough. The park is frequented by non-golfers so it fills up pretty quick on the weekend. Also. pace of play can be slowed a bit on the weekend because this course is super early. I would recommend getting there early or going at an odd hour!

Other Thoughts:

Not much to complain about here. It is a carefully thought out, long course on a beautiful piece of property. Bravo.

Best Course in the Triangle 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 31, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Well delineated fairways, comfortable tee pads and fair lines even when tight. Water holes are very manageable yet exciting. Great features on putting greens (especially love the quartz elevated basket placements). Visually pleasing course with challenge and opportunity. Signage was great. We played from the blue tees and had no trouble navigating.

Cons:

I thought there was one flow issue in regard to passing between basket and next tee pad. However with a 3 group or more back up for 20 holes that does expose any weakness in this aspect of the courses design. All of the other spots where discs could possibly come from another fairway were properly protected by well placed barriers.

Other Thoughts:

This course is very good with a complete variety of shots from the tee. There are a couple holes that did not quite feel complete but it still plays well. I am excited to see what this course becomes over the next few years. Great job designer and volunteers you should be extremely proud!
