Amarillo...I'll be there! 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 9, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

Various Tees to suit those seeking a change of scenery from the same old course. This course has some very decent medium to long holes that were fun and challenging, beautiful red dirt grass mix in a mildly wooded park,I enjoyed the course actually.

Cons:

Multiple pin placements would do the course some good, you have the tees' now get the sleeves. The holes that were short werent that boring due to elevation variance.

Other Thoughts:

Coming into this course I had thoughts that it would be less then exciting and fairly boring for some reason and that is not the case its more fun but very similar to widefield dgc in Colo Springs, and way harder then Lucy park in Wichita Falls,

Great course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 13, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great signs, lots of challenging holes, but no so hard that first time players don't enjoy themselves. Good use of the elevation changes, and obstacles (water/trees).

Cons:

Wind major factor. Lots of glass and litter on the ground, some of it from the park being built on an old land fill, but more trash cans would help with the more modern trash littered about the course.

Other Thoughts:

Looks like about to re-do the course with new tee pads at all the holes cant wait to see what is coming. Something on the main board about the planned upgrades would be nice.

Great course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 15, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

This was a great course. There is a good mix of long and short holes that require all sorts of different kinds of shots. There was some good elevation change to make the course more fun. The course is covered in large trees making for a very picturesque course. The trees are large enough that throwing over the top is not an option in most cases. The trees aren't tight enough on any holes to require pinpoint accuracy, but do provide extra challenge. There are good quality concrete teepads and good signage. There is a creek that runs through the middle of the course and comes into play on some of the holes.

Cons:

Amarillo people are crazy. It was about 40 degrees out when we played and the other players out there had their shirts off! Some teenage girls also kept driving around the park and screaming out the window. It was a little wierd.

Other Thoughts:

If you are near to this course, then definitely go play it. If not, then try to make your way through Amarillo some time to stop by and play it. Keep on the lookout for groundhogs, we saw a couple while playing.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 5, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

Disc Creek is a pretty good course. A decent variety of shots are needed, but mostly you will need a pretty strong arm. The holes are clearly labeled and you should have no real problems moving around.

Each hole also has its own area, so there usually isn't anyone else in the way (with the possible exception of hole 17 which tends to serve as overflow parking if an event is going on).

Cons:

The creek can eat your disk on a couple of holes if you aren't careful.

The course could stand to be a little more difficult.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, Disc Creek is a good course. The locals are extremely friendly and will happily guide you if you haven't played it before. If you are in the Amarillo area, give it a shot.
