Pros:
Good course for intermediate to advanced level players at 6600'. Not overwhelming for novices and casuals, but with two of the first three holes over 600' each, they will find it challenging. Has some good variance on hole distances and flows pretty logically. Disccatchers are easy to see (just make sure you're looking at the right one). Some water threat on the first two holes (if it goes in, you're likely not getting it back), but nothing a decently accurate drive can't avoid. Not crowded with casuals unlike some other course in town. Plenty of hyzer potential for lefties with OB trouble often to your right. Great course for learning how to steer around trees. Along with the length, the trees are what make this course tick.
Cons:
Flat as a pancake, well except for the ditches alongside the roads. It could get ugly getting to the next tee after a hard rain here. Maintenance seems come and go here. Sometimes its well mowed, sometimes not. Compared to McClure nearby, amenities like bathrooms are non existent here. The relative openness of the course makes it hard to find a good tree to say hello to. Some footbridges to get over the ditch areas would be an improvement.
Other Thoughts:
Kind of a strange albeit appropriate location for a DG course, Dovillio sits in a narrow buffer area between Mingo Creek and a subdivision with unimproved streets (hence the reason for the ditches). With McClure nearby, you'd be good to hit them both if you're in the neighborhood.
