Lots to like 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 25, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

Very nice course in big busy park. Lots of golf wedged into not all that much space... good use of land, overall. Flat by local stds, but good use of what elevation there is ... which is a lot by my Chicago stds. 3 and 5 are the great holes here... signature shots in tree clusters... not crazy long. 1 and 2 are nicely done with the trees. 8 was a nice annie shot over the creek and around the tree. Liked that one, too.

Cons:

5 and 9 cross... not a great thing... even on a weekday after school, before dinner it was pretty crowded and I presume much worse on the weekends... some tee signs are missing but most transitions are easy nuf to figure out. Had to ask about the move from 4 to 5. Missed 7 completely... went dir to 8. 11 is just a waste... silly hole... just there to see if you have the guts to throw good plastic that close to the water... use a junk disc and likely not throw your best... why bother? Mioe from 11 to 12 is a bit big but dir on post make it a easy transition.

Other Thoughts:

My fave combo was 12, 15, 16, 17... 12 does not have the trees... 13 is set too close to the street and parked cars to be a good idea. 15, 16, 17 use the tres well and are great middle distance holes for key shot placement for birdies. Nice. Overall a fun place to play. I will be back here 1X more before I am done in town.

I'm Loving it 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 19, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course has a wide variety of tee off shots for all who venture in. From beginners to the more advanced, you are going to love this course. From the long open shots to the water and tree hazards, you will get plenty of chances to use or practice your skills on this awesome course. Restroom facilities and some water stations to quench your thirst. Most of the other Disc Golfers have been very friendly and are willing to answer any questions you might have about the course. Signs for tees and baskets are marked. This course is scattered throughout a wide area in and off the park, so makes for lots of good exercise. This park is well maintained and is mostly green grass throughout.

Cons:

It would be wise to make your tee times an earlier one; it can become a little crowded in the afternoons. You may get a little turned around your first time out on this course.

Other Thoughts:

Hole #3 is across the parking lot north. Hole #6 is across the street South east. Hole #9 you come back across the street West on the corner. From hole #10, 11 and 12 takes you around the back of the tennis courts. Walk towards the skate park to get to hole #13. Hole #14 is across the street South West. Hole #18 is back across the street again east on the corner of the block. Hope the extra information helps you out, if it is your first time to this course. From the first time I ever played this course, my family and I fell in love with it. It is well worth the drive up here from the eastern plains every Saturday morning.

Edora Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 5, 2010 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Very nice use of basket location with tons of large evergreens. Great grass, and very well kept up by the maintance crews. The other aspects of the park are top notch as well. Rest room are available on the course too.

Cons:

Very spread out, Starts at the top oh the hill for holes 1 and 2. then hole 3 is on the oter side of the parking lot. Also kinda confusing for first timers on the course at hole # 6, is across the street and up the hill. There are small signs that give a brief explaination of the next tee. Also locals were explaing the lay out even with out asking for help. All seem very friendly.

Other Thoughts:

Would definatily put this course on your wish list of places to play!

Awesome Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 18, 2010 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

As a nobe to the sport, and haven't spent a lot of time playing yet I have come to love this sport and this course. It's a bit out of the way from the house but well worth the trip. Folks are always willing to help you get a disk out of a tree or show you were the next tee is.

Cons:

This course is part of a larger park and can be difficult to drive when there are other citizens using the fairways to work on their tans. Tee #6 is very confusing to find and gave up the first time after it got to dark and went home.

Other Thoughts:

This is a super nice park in the middle of town that really loves it's disk golf. It would be nice for Fort Collins to build another course to help relive some of the pressure and traffic at Eddora. Maybe Spring Cannyon Park would be a great idea.

Pros:

a great course in a really nice park. plenty of variety, a few holes had water to deal with. the tee pads are huge.... almost too big, but they were really nice. baskets were in great condition. the park was pretty busy, but i had no preal problems waiting around

Cons:

a couple holes crossed fairways,(#5,#9). you have to cross a street and a parking lot twice but the flow of the course was pretty nice overall.

Other Thoughts:

met a local player ther half way through my round who was more than happy to play out the round with me. nothing but good vibes from everyone i met out there. i was only able to play here and estes park, but this was my favorite of the two colorado courses

Old School Course Fun 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 22, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course is a fun course with a variety of shots (helped by the variety of pin placements) The flow wasn't too bad, I only asked for directions once, and mainly so that I could get on past the locals and not be in their way. This course is kept very nice, and has options for the rest of the family as well. The next tees that may be hard to find have signs on them telling you how to get there. The tee pads as stated in several other reviews are the largest I have ever seen.

Cons:

There were a few signs missing, which made finding the pin on a few holes hard. There are a few blindshots, but once you have played once you know where you are going. I lost a disc on 9 in the creek...that's a personal con, that's what I get for getting that close to the pin I suppose.

Other Thoughts:

This course is kept very nice, it made playing it alot of fun. I didn't shoot very well, but I had a blast playing. I would definitely go back to this course every time I am in the area.

Great course to play, all levels, had a blast. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 9, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Huge Tee-pads, lots of fairway on a lot of holes. I am an amateur level player and brought two beginners with me and they had a great time.

Cons:

Like everyone else has said, the course is very busy. We couldn't play hole 4 because there was a large group of people with a slip n slide setup 20' in front of the target.

Other Thoughts:

Bring a disc you don't mind losing cause there is a big creek and some shrubbery on some holes. Unless you don't mind getting wet. There is a hole where you are shooting along and over water. There were several kids there wading around and pulling out piles of discs.

Great overall course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 14, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course requires great accuracy and just about every technical shot in the bag. Holes have multiple pin locations varying in length with many down and uphill shots, water hazards on 6 holes, and many trees lining most fairways. There are also roads, walking paths, and other various out of bounds areas coming into play frequently. The tee pads are nice long concrete pads with several surrounded by mulch. Every hole is clearly marked with a post and map that provides info about the hole. The park is very well maintained by the city and the local disc golf club. There are many facilities to use and resources to navigate the course.

Cons:

Since this is by far the best course in the city, it gets VERY populated on any given sunny day. If you go after 1 PM you may have to wait in line for the whole round! You also have to watch out for pedestrians occasionally passing through (usually with dogs). "Fore!" is commonly heard because some holes cross over each other and passing players can get in the way. Occasionally, the open fairways of Hole #1 and #2 are occupied by young recreational players and casual visitors of the pool and ice center.

Other Thoughts:

This is my stomping ground. I learned how to play here and I can say I have had to learn every type of shot to play well at Edora. This is easily in my top 3 favorite courses.

Edora is Definately, Thee, Northern Colorado, Front Range Course!. With a mix of Experienced Vets to CSU's College Crowd, to Beginner's, this course offers Something for All!

Every Hole has multiple Pin Locations, that are changed frequently, that Pose an ever challenging Course. The Weather is Nice, more than not, which gives you a Year round Experience - From the Ice on Hole 4's Notorious Hill (in the Winter) to Spring Creek flooding in the Spring, there is always a new challenge.

All Pads are Concrete and Every Hole is Well Marked. Great Mix of Bomber Shots (Hole 6 & 10 - Long Positions) and Short Technical Shots (Hole 11 & 3)..

The course holds a great Atmosphere and is located in a beautiful City/Area.

Cons:

Can get very busy at times with a mix of crowds which can make difficult shots even more complicated.(For example shooting Hole 9 while there is a Horseshoe Tourny going on).

Other Thoughts:

Great course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 15, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course has an incredible variety of holes that require familiarity with different types of shots in order to play it well. The tee shot on the first hole is one of the most difficult shots I have ever seen. Trees surround the tee and are present up to about half of the fairway. Your options on one are a short hyzer, a perfect straight shot to a very small opening in the trees about 150 feet away, or an anhyzer/turnover for distance. The first, second, eighth, and fifteenth holes are great for folks who love the anhyzer and turnover throws. Hole six is a monster with an elevated tee that allows you to really test your distance technique. Hole seven plays across a creek with the basket usually at the top of a ten foot "cliff" to the water, so accuracy is important. Ten is a long hole that plays with the creek on the right, but is just a warm-up for eleven which is a deceptively difficult short tee shot to a basket near a small lake that devours the discs of those who can't make the adjustment to the short throw or make the play around the group of trees in front of the target. There are a lot of non-disc golf activities that happen within the course, but it is rarely a problem. This course has a hole for everyone.

Cons:

The tees on thirteen and fourteen don't have pads and are played from the dirt/grass. Holes five and nine cross, but both are short and the tees are near one another so communication is easy.

Other Thoughts:

Edora is a fun and challenging course that has a great vibe. The folks that play are an easy going and friendly lot.

great park for everyone! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 28, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

* Nice variety of pin placements
* Lots of obstacles, but very clear options for different paths to the basket
* Forces you to use MANY discs from your bag
* Good shots are rewarded and poor shots punish you. In my opinion, this is the biggest factor in determining if it is a great course or not.

Cons:

* A few holes are hard to find if you are not with someone who knows the course.
* A few fairways cross each other.

Other Thoughts:

I love the variety of shots that the course offers as options or forces you to play. It is really cool that there are so many activities going on around you, but for the most part those people are not in the way, unless you throw a pretty poor shot! Nice, long tee pads, and a few holes where you can rare back and throw as hard as you can. NICE! This is a great park, and I am willing to drive the 45+ minutes to get there. Kudos to the people who maintain the clean park with so much going on.

Go Rams!!! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 9, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course has it all! Nice baskets, Nice tee boxes. All of the tees are marked very well and some of the tell you how to get to the next tee. There is a stream that comes into play on a couple holes and a small pond right nest to the basket on #10. You need to use all of the shots that you have in your bag to stay alive.

Cons:

There are no cement tee pads on #13 and #14, but with #14 there is a path that can be used. The is a little bit of a walk after #2 and #11. This park can get very bust, even on the weekdays! Skate park in the middle of the course and a tennis court that you have to watch out for. There are multiple pin placements, however, it is not marked on the tee maps which is the current pin location; makes it hard on the baskets that you can not see.

Other Thoughts:

I live about 45 minutes south of this course and I would make the drive again to play this course. It is a semi difficult course so beginners beware. Make sure that you print off the map before you go to make your trip a lot easier. Also while in Ft. Collins make sure to stop at "The Wright Life" store and pick up some new gear, only 5 minutes away.

Many of the holes are clear setting you up for some KILLER drives. Hole 3 was my favorite, had to use a for arm to get around what ever building was next to the course. So its a challenging course as far as variety goes.

Not many people playing before noon!

There is also a skate park around hole 8-9(?), SO if you skate like I do, don't forget to bring your skateboard on this one !

Beautiful course lay out !

Cons:

Like I stated before, there is a LOT happening in this park, not just Frolf. Its not a bother to me, but its definitely a courteous environment.

Kids scour the course for lost discs and try to sell them back to you, so play with control and watch where your disc goes!

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 31, 2008 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Edora park is an enjoyable, well rounded course that brings a large variety of shot types into play on every hole. The tee-boxes are for the most part in great shape, with the exception of #13 & #14 as they may have been recently moved because as of Oct 08 they are dirt with no signs. The tee-signs are in good shape and show the multiple pin placements for each hole, although it is difficult to tell which placement is currently in play. Some of the signs give a brief description of where the next tee is on those longer walks. What makes this a great course is the many different types of throws, there is flat holes, some treed holes, some holes with good elevation, and depending on the pin placements the creek is in play on several. The park is very well maintained, three holes play in the natural prairie grass and the rest are in nicely groomed park grass. Hole #3 is a great downhill shot into a grove of pines. Hole #6 is long and wide open, though it should probably be a par three. In the right placement hole #7 is a tricky uphill birdie shot over the creek. While not extremely challenging Edora park still keeps the round interesting, and you'll likely use most of the shots in your arsenal.

Cons:

Navigating the course can be problematic in a few spots. Hole #3 is north-west across the wide parking lot. Hole #6 is east across the street near the railroad track in the prairie. Hole #12 is a good walk to the south side of the skate park. Hole #13 is west across the street at the dirt patch with no tee-sign. Now it is not as annoying as it sounds, especially since there are usually plenty of friendly locals to help out. The fenced horse-shoe arena and tennis courts are kind of in the way on some of the best holes. A large brick building crowds the drive on hole #2. After hole #11 they can get just a bit redundant with mostly straight, flat shots, but there is still an abundant amount of trees. The creek is somewhat nasty and could potentially swallow your disc in certain spots.

Other Thoughts:

Even though my list of cons seems long keep in mind these are all minor nuisances and I did give the course a 4 out of 5 rating mostly for the fun I had playing it. Edora does require significant disc control, as the beginner I played with was not too pleased when he finished +12, however experienced players are likely to finish under par. The huge number of pin placements are changed frequently, so likely it will be quite different the second time you play it. Park in the far back of the large parking lot, you'll see the practice basket.

Oh The Trees and Roads 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 18, 2008 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This course is in a very nice park and provides an incredible challenge. There are very few holes that will have you saying oh I did this just a couple of holes ago.

Cons:

This is not an easy course. So I would reccomend begginers stay away. The course is not all that long. There are two holes that do not have cement tees (13 & 14). There is a long walk after holes 2 and 11 before the next tee. Walk ways, streets and other out of bounds areas are easy to find, even when you are not looking for them. Signs are not all that accurate, even if you happen to figure out the tee placement that actually exists for that hole. Water comes into play on hole 11 but that is about it.

Other Thoughts:

You do not want to play this course without a map. I used the one on this website and printed it out and was able to use it to help out other lost dg throwers. This course really frustrates me many times throughout the round, but it is the most challenging course I have yet played on, and I think that is a good thing.

Another Fine Day at Edora 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 21, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

This course is an old favorite, even with the many modifications it has gone through over the years. Gone are some of the epic holes around the creek, but this course still has the charm and technical charisma of a great disc golf course. Today was a humid, warm day with a slight wind, which makes the course a touch more challenging especially for the more precise shots around the creek and those requiring some real serious fade or turns. This course has a great mix of distances and requires just about every shot in your arsenal. Forehands, backhands and rollers help get you closer to the pin, but you will need a variety of backhand shots to truly master the course. Tees are fairly well marked and the tee pads are, for the most part, expansive and well made. Lots of trees on nearly every basket and water on 4 of them. There are multiple pin placements and nearly all are mapped out on the tee posts with distances, which always helps me.

Cons:

Some tees unmarked and it is a hike to #12. Fortunately, I have played this course before and know where I am going.

Other Thoughts:

Another great day at Edora.
